I'm with Abbey too, and my WTC always goes in on a Wednesday and has not gone in to today. Please can anyone update if they know if it will go in tomorrow?
I've just rang the Abbey head office & the recorded message is saying that the bank payments will be sorted today (earlier it was this morning ) so it should be in by tomorrow.

There I was hoping not to have to go to the shops tomorrow too

It was on the local NI news about the Abby and a major problem with their system.
Not just benefits but people's wages etc. It will all be sorted by this evening it said.
All direct debits etc will be paid out and no charges applied to your account as its their fault.

I get my benefit in the PO and was expecting my DLA in as its due on the 29th, infact the IS and IB was also in even though not due until the 30th.

So does that mean it will go in at midnight tonight or midnight tomorrow

Well, it should be there before 9am tomorrow (or whenever the start of the banking day is). From experience, this can be anything from midnight to 4.30am, depending on the bank. The only two I know off the top of my head are Lloyds TSB (normally 12.30am) and NatWest (2.30am).

If you've not got it by 9am tomorrow phone them up.

  • hi and happy christmas to everyon. just a bit of a moan, a few years ago when most benefits were paid by book we all knew where we were a notice went up in the PO and you knew exactly where you stood, but its all so confusing now. If its any help my CA due on the 28th was paid today and i am told my HB also due on 28th will be in my account tomorrow. Its all so nerve racking as none of us on here have hundreds of pounds savings to fall back on if the benefit isn't paid in time for christmas. how many of us have sweaty palms and a fast heart when we check our accounts knowing we are in the proverbial if the money hasn't gone in. Please say yes so i know i'm not alone!!!

I know what you mean, Pete. I'm a wee bit frustrated that my HB won't be in until a day later than normal whereas everyone else's benefits (admittedly not HB) goes in early. I really don't begrudge anyone getting their money, I just wish I could get my hands on mine.

What makes it more galling is that my main job is writing and reporting on football matches. If my HB or courier money doesn't go in on time, i.e. Monday, I won't be able to go to Monday's match and earn more money....
