Bruza is meeting his possible new mum at 3 pm today - everyone please keep fingers crossed as the lady already has a Rottie girl (neutered) so Bruza would not only have a home, own door to guard and a garden to run (not to be locked in there) but also a Rottie friend :)

Some short videos of Bruza, taken by another friend (also Gosia) involved in this "action":

And Bruza - perfect house guest and a gentelman-new life joys discovering a squeeky toy LOL:

Lets just hope everything goes well, he is sucha great dog and both Gosia's involved in his care (and their partners) are all in love with him....

Just shows that some people and some dogs will not work and other people with the same dogs will - both Gosia's have a lot of experience with looking after dogs back from Poland (where we are all originally from), both were involved with homeless dogs and special care dogs and they just continue this here in UK.

Bruza - as in my first post. My daughter was in the right place in the right time to be approached by his owner. Could not do what we have done without the 2 Gosia's involvement though so between the 4 of us (plus their partners so this makes 6.....LOL) hopefully Bru will have a lovely forever home.

I do nto think his previos owner meant any harm to him - he just simply did not have a clue so ignorance rather than malice.

I am sure he meant well when he got the dog, its just that good intentions are often not enough.

    Fingers crossed now :)

OP I commend you for the amount of work you are doing for this boy. At times reading this thread I did wonder what you were thinking of (a reported aggressive outdoors dog you have never met before sleeping on your bed!) but between yourself, your daughter and your friend this seems to be working out ok.

Hope this boy has a happy ending. He is a handsome boy and as a rott owner myself they are a joy to own and lovely to look at ;)

Best wishes and hope this boy has a happy Xmas.

Oh, this is actually quite interesting as Bruza is definitely not an "outdoor dog" - was one through no choice of his own, he MUCH prefers Gosia's leater settee ;)

He does not bark when he is inside - he was just barking for attention when out at previous owner's garden, poor thing wanted to get IN.....

Did not see any agrgression in him apart fronm an occassional growl when someone bends over him (for example to attach a lead to the collar) which is quite consistent so obviously some bad experience from that and somethign to keep in mind.

His recall is zero/non existent - which obviously has a plus side.. easy to change his name ;)

He just needs a good human of his own - he waits for Gosia by the dor and greets her first which does not go very well with her own Laika GS... as she is the "baby" in the house and does nto like share the attention - but Bru puts up with everything from both Laika and Frytka (other Gosia's spaniel) - he likes girls LOL

Well - Bruza/Bruno is back with Gosia.

The woman has turned up but as much as she expected that we just turn the dog over to her there and then... of course it did not happen.

She was not happy to have him neutered for a start as she felt he was a young dog and should have a litter of puppies.... She was not happy for one of us to take the dog to her place to see where he is going to go.. She was not happy for the dog to be microchipped with our details/details of charity where we take him for neutering/vaccinations/microchip tomorrow

She tried to take us on a guilt trip saying she came over from quite far etc etc...

Anyway - too many "warning signs" so Gosia took Bruza/Bruno back home.

Will be talking to some rescues again tomorrow....

ooops...........didn't know much about boy dogs then :D
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Well done - I think it is especially important with this lad that you dont just let him go 'anywhere' (not that you would, clearly!) - in addition to wanting to ensure he is neutered etc, and that homechecks are ok, I would also be very wary of letting this lad go to a home with kids, and be looking for an experienced, adult only home to be honest... he obviously has some memories which trigger growling, and a kid could inadvertantly do something which would trigger his anxieties, and not recognise the warning signs...

Good luck with finding the right home for him!

Bruno/Bruza/Bru is at the vets right now, being microchipped, neutered, vaccinated - Celia Hamond Animal Trust has kindly arranged for all this for a nominal fee of £5.

He will be picked up this evening, hopefully not more grumpy than his usual self.....

I was told he was not too happy at the vets (from the previous owner we knew he had never taken him to the vet and he had the dog for a year).

He weights at 40kg, looks good although on a close inspection he could turn some fat into muscle - he obviously did not get enough proper exercise.

Gosia has "attached" Bruno to her website - with more info about him:

    http://www.dogsandthecity.co.uk/bru

No, he will not go to a home with children - he needs an experienced Rottie person only.

    Thanks everyone.

Lovely pictures of Bru on the website. He reminds me of the fairy tale about the dog with eyes as big as saucers. Anyone would be proud to own such a handsome well mannered chap; I hope he finds a new home soon.

So.......to him, Goszia, you and everyone involved in the life he can now enjoy
