This made me cry.
I really hope you can find someone to look after him, I'd have him if I could but its just not possible.
Give him a big cuddle from me, the poor boy.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
Thanks SaucySecrets - we will give him a cuddle as he is a cuddly bear with us and did not take long for him to be like that with us.
I feel he has got that "I have to guard" my friends in his head and maybe that sister came over too soon, tried to touch him too soon..no idea what exactly happened - we are quite surprised as Bruno took to Bill immediately and Bill is quite upset about this situation too but... he has a son (13 yo) who visits him sometimes and his ex is not happy for him to keep Bruno in this situation...
They were used to him having a rottie (his 9 yo Max died 2 months ago) so probably the sister assumed that bruno was same as Max and did not give the dog the space he needed before approaching him? No idea, will know more when Gosia collects Bruno later on today.
The problem we have is that Gosia is going away to Poland on the 5th January for 2 weeks and we have absolutely nowhere for Bruno - and there is no way thsi boy is going to get a needle in his paw...:(0 -
You have a dog who is dominant and protective with a history of aggression , he needs to be accessed correctly and maybe he is not suitable to be placed in a home .
As he is a young dog and healthy have you thought about him doing a job the army vet camp in Melton Mowbray will take guarding breeds up until the age of 3 years and are running a 'Your Country needs your dog ' he could be the sort of dog they would be interested in .0 -
1sue23 - I do nto think you have read how we got in this situation .. having Bruno "on our hands"?
Nevertheless, some good pointers in your post, thanks for that.

Gosia brought Bruno back to her place. Speaking to Bill - Bruno never bite or even jumped at anyone. He just growled.
He was great with Bill, Bill could do anythign with him from day one but when his sister, his friend and his 13 yo son visited (on the econd day of Bruno's being there) the dog growled at them.
Bruno was great on walks, greeted all the dogs in a nice way, ignored people while outside - growled at visitors while they were in Bill's flat.
We are looking at what other possible options we may find for him.0 -
Poor Bruno. If you get really stuck and can't find anywhere for him this place, which I know is a very long way from where you are, might take him. They've been on the go for 30 years and they truly don't put healthy dogs to sleep.

i think that what you have done is great and i would have done the same , but he sounds like a dog who is very protective when he bonds to one person which is why he could do well in the army , he could form a bond with his handler and lead a very good working life .
I would be hesitant to home him with any one who would not take heed of his traits and would be very wary of him going anywhere where their is a chance that he could over react to a potential threat because being a large dog this could potentially lead to attack on the unwary , he may only growl now and warn people but he could possibly get braver and move on from growling to a bite as a warning.0 -

Hi gettingready,
Have a chat with Ann at Woodview, they are involved with Rottie rescue and are both reputable and well known locally for giving "difficult" to place dogs a chance......

what lovely people you are to have helped this lovely dog, what a bad start Bruno has had to his life, but thanks to you all he will hopefully find his perfect owner for a new start in 2010, what a truly wonderful story :-)mummy to 3 monsters!
trying to money save, but spot too many bargains on here!!0 -
Thanks for your support everyone - we are still trying to sort something out for Bruno to the point we actualkly consider taking him to Poland where we can pay for a temporary "hotel" and trying to rehome him there.
The cost of the hotel would be about 300-400 Polish zl per month (he is a healthy boy and we already got him neutered/vaccinated/microchipped so minimal possible vet fees there - if any). That is under £100 per month. The transport is a problem though as by plane it would be very expensive and by road someone would have to go with him...
Yup, that desperate to save this boy from a needle.....0 -
Oh no, the last I read he was happily homed with Bill. What a shame. Bruno is lucky to have found you and I really hope you find the home for him that he deserves (obviously the right people). Poor Bruno, it seems he has been shipped all over the place. The big boy deserves a happy future.0
