    Bruno definitely is..... :)

Turns out the necessary gap between rabies vaccination and possible travel out of UK is... 3 weeks.

3 weeks we simply do not have.

    Damn it :(

Could he go into kennels in the meantime? Perhaps you should set up a save Bruno page on facebook and get donations and seek a new home for him.

FireFox - the rescue has offered a place then pulled out the next day.

Ali - we simply do not have the time to do it.

Gosia is going away soon after New Year and we have nowhere for Bruno to stay....

This is so sad. My concern is that Bruno, even on finding a great home, has needs that need to be ensured long term...with stability and understaning of his temperament and nature. Even on finding him a home who knows that the same situation as met hom with Bill might not recurr? Or present differently.

The working option might be a good call for him this considered?

I understand your reluctnce to see the ''needle'' as his end, its tragic but for the poor dog being moved and the uncertainty of being first in one home, then another, then Bill, then back. risks compounding his fears and making it harder for him to settle eventually if a possible home is found :( There is no certainly that should nother ''Bill'' be found the dog has any more security than he did before. :(

I don't think another temporary reprieve is necessarily in hs best interests and ultimately, as heinous as it is, a PTS might be an option to reconsider. Pease understand I do not raise this without compassion or regret, but with concern for this poor dog, and the many others, who are being PTS. Some of those might in fact be more easily rehomed, or more suitably et still aren't.

I hope a better answer is found, but please consider the impact f lack of security not just now but in his future.

Lostinrates - I understand perfectly what you are saying as I have exactly the same worries.

I have been on the phone all morning calling even more rescues.

One (in Wales) may be able to take Bruno in at the end of January - waiting for a confirmation.....

Hope has offered a space for Bruno from 23rd January.

Does anyone know of a place where we could ask for help with transporting Bruno from London to Wales?

Hope may have a place for him a bit sooner and one Gosia is away till 21st and the other Gosia or myself - we do nto drive/do nto have transport.

I kow it is asking a lot but - anywhere we could find a transport from Bruno if it happens that Hope can take him earlier and we are stuck for transport?

    Thanks a lot
  • For transport, I am sure something could be arranged via RHU -

You can register and post, or if you want, I will post for you - better to do so sooner rather than later though, so there is enough time for available people to volunteer their services. It may help if you can offer some help with petrol costs, if needed, as some volunteers are not working, and have time, but not money!

FC - thanks for that, did nto know about that website.

I normally spend my nights on a Polish one...trying to help all those furies who need it, a little bit, from a distance....

Would have known exactly what to do there - I have to say that being in this situation with Bruno, despite my 18 years living in UK.. I am shocked to say the least by the response we get from all those rescues big and small .. all those glossy images of this and that but...

    Ah, never mind. Thanks again.

    .

Sadly, the reality is that most are over-loaded and struggling to home far easier dogs, often smaller dogs, of more popular breeds with easy going temprements - a rottie is not for everyone, and one who has problems with people in certain circumstances is certainly not an easy rehome...

FC - will maybe send you some links one day (PW).Although I know that Polish may not be your strong point ;) - pictures say more than words in those cases.
A dog was recently found run over and FROZEN to the road - multiple fractures etc etc, old dog too.

Members of the forum (dog related forum) have collected the money for the vet, found a temporary "hotel" for the dog, collected for that and will find that dog a home.

Pitpul ended up at the vets with multiple, clearly dog fight related injuries - same story, quick money collection, dog brought back to health and adopted.

Mixed breed, around 14 yo with his head "twisted" due to a stroke - foudn his home recently.

2 GS, left abandoned at a city rubbish collection kind of skip, both very old - went together with another very old GS to a temporary home, being paid for by the forum members.

I do nto want to post the links to the threads on here as some photos hount me and would not like to impose those on people here - skeleton of a boxer I saw yesterday, in a vet clinic being looked after. GS girls dying on a chain with 5 little pups trying to feed from her while she herself had no access to food/water (someone reported late, the mum died, pups rehomed, owner fined and bannedfrom keeping animals). Dogs with terrible skin conditions (no fur whatsoever, black sking with sores and kept outside) nursed back to health and rehomed... Thousands of dogs...

Every day there are new dogs on there, every single one of them gets help (very often financial) to get them back to normal. No dog is put down for whatever health or behaviour reasons unless there is absolutely no chance to get the dog to good (reasonable and comfortable for the dog) health.

Those contributions are tottaly voluntarily, there is a very strong dog lovers community - they get the dogs out of the shelters (not very good condions), adopting them on their own name (nobody checks), collecting money to put them in privately run "dog hotels" (at a cost of about 60-80 pounds per dog per month including food, vet bills extra) and adopting them out from those.

I have seen cases of stealing dogs who are found in poor conditions, chained outside with bad shelter and no food and collecting for them/placing them in private hotels. That is when animal welfare organisations failed to respond to calls for help.

Not a different set up to here on the surface as they have rescues, animal welfare etc etc but it is the private people, the "civilians" that do the real work.

Believe me, despite massive problem with stray dogs, abandoned dogs, no wide microchipping and neutering - those dogs will get help if they find their way onto the forum. Every single one of them.

Bruno would be no exeption - this is a young and healthy dog with some minor issues.

It is very hard for me to be coming agains such a brick wall here, believe me.

All the best, thanks for all and lets hope that while we look forwad to the New Year - some poor furry creature is not dying being neglected, beaten, starved, chained etc.

    :(
  • I just wondered how things had gone...did you find him somewhere to go?
