lol! He looks pretty happy and relaxed there!! More confident looking than I expected to be honest - maybe he is happy to be in a house instead of outdoors tonight!
Well done - glad he is safe!0 -
My friend is just walking him by the woods.... he is very confident..
While in my flat, he peed on 4 walls, drunk a bowl of water - not interested in treats/food really.....
He seems to like women, bless him....0 -
is he ok with other dogs and cats??? He is goregous, he looks like he just needs a load of love, and a stable, energetic, loving home ( i know u shouldnt say that from a photo), we have lots of love to give, BUT, there are a lot of conditions to fill first, ie, a very much loved cat,dog and parrot, they really do come first, (my cat was in a mood with me when i went away for a night, i didnt like it lol. Have u any knowledge on his behaviour wiht other animals.
Worst case scenario, please pm me, we might be able to find a solution xxx0 -
To be honest we have no idea how is he with anything really - we brought him to my flat and my own cat was locked away in a bedroom and the dog did nto try to get in there, he sniffed the cat litter box and that was about it....
It is out of my hands now, the dog is with my friend and I have given her a link to this thread so she should be able to eventually answer any questions.
We will try him with other dogs tomorrow and at the weekend, see how he is - my friend has sent her own dog for a sleepover to another friend (very complicated, do nto even ask.. ) to see the rotti in her place on his own for a bit before introducing him to her own dog.
From the owner - dog was kept mostly in the garden "outdoor dog", no idea how he is with kids or other pets in home enviroment as he was never inside with kids or other animals. Owner used to take him everywhere by bus - did not seem to be any problems there with nipping pasengers or passers by. BUT - we do not know really.
From us so far: Dog pulls on a lead, not motivated by food (tried to make him sit etc with treats - he just was not interested), pees on walls (marking???? he has not been neutered), very confident dog, not shy with people.
The dog growled at me today and this is why he is not staying here. He seemd to have fell for my 2 friends rather than me for some reason. He seemed to have liked my daughter (19) too as he wanted to follow her around the flat....
He needs someone who is experienced with this particular breed and can handle any possible problems.
He is a very good looking dog and will make someone a great pet/friend but this has to be a rotti-experienced person.0 -
It is worth asking over on dogpages - you could look for a rescue, or post him in private rehomings, but ideally he would be best being homed via a rescue who can assess his temprement and perhaps place him in a foster home to get some house-training etc in place.0

Hi, I'm Gosia, "gettingready"s friend - writing from my boyfriend's profile, hope he wouldn't mind, I'm too knackered to bother with signing up myself now...
Just popped in to tell a bit about Bruza the Rottie - he is really great with me, when I came back home from dropping our other friend at her place with my dog (and my client's boarding dog too, to make the story even funnier!) Bruza was sooooo happy to see me! I took him for another short walk, he is getting much better with lead walking. He is a sweetie to me, has a really bad habit though - he marks A LOT. hope it will fade with time and possibly change a bit when my dog gets back home tomorrow afternoon. now he stops immediately when I clap my hands but obviously I need to be present and vigilant.
LUCKILY HE IS NOT BARKING!!! at the moment at least. his owner told us he was barking persistently as he wanted to be let in to the house - and obviously after hours of barking the guy was actually letting him in, the worst scenario possible. I've been really concerned about it as I suppose my boyfriend would kick me and Bruza out in such case! I think he could put up with growling and nipping but is already tired of marking, and barking would be certainly too much. at the moment I left Bruza downstairs - he can roam free around the living room, kitchen and garden, while I am upstairs - and he is quiet. after some time of silence I went down and stayed with him in the kitchen for a while (no barking = I'm coming to play with him) but now I need to go to sleep and seriously hope he will remain calm.
oh, hell, two single barks... I have to ignore, hope S. will not wake up...
I have one advantage over his previous owner - my neighbours love us and our dogs because our landlady was causing hell lot of trouble and they are so grateful she's gone they don't mind anything!!!
now silence again, thanks God.
tomorrow he will meet Laika (please keep fingers crossed so it would be fine!) and during the weekend some dogs in the park I suppose (maybe Zara?). Monday-Tuesday we'll try to introduce him to my "walking pack" so I will be able to tell more about his behaviours towards other dogs!If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0 -
Hi Gosia - you are very kind - I hope you have a quiet night and the boyfriend copes ok!0
-
Of course he is going to meet Zara... he is not her type as she likes the boys to be "blond and long haired" but I am sure they will get on ok....
Go to bed girl, glad Bruza is not barking.....LOL0 -
I've been desperately trying to remember the name of a private rottie rescue that I used to have contact with but my mummy brain has totally erased it... I know it was named after one of their original Rotties... They specialise in difficult rotties although has a business doing guard dogs too which is where they have the necessary experience from to tackle some of the cases they deal with. I have no idea if they are still up and running but if they are it would be the perfect place for Bruza...
If I didn't have a 6 month old baby, a dog and 2 cats I'd have him in a heartbeat
If I remember the rescue name I'll post it up... drat this memory! grrrDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0
