I know Battersea will put the dog down as I knw a few people who used to volunteer there.
Called RSPCA, no help.
The Rottie Rescue guy was very nice but he can not take another dog on.
Looks like there is nothing i personally can do and feel like banging my head against a brick wall - the owner said he got 48 hours to get rid of the dog as he is gettin evicted.
Dog is not vaccinated, not neutered, he says it is an "outdoor" dog, was in a car accident when he was 6 months old (just over 2 years old now), that guy had him for a year now and "does nto know" if the dog is ok with kids or cats. How can you not know THAT if you had a dog for over a year ??????
In that case Id take the dog and take it to the council as a stray - they will give it 7 days at least - 7 days and perhaps a space will be found for it in a rescue?0 -
My friend is taking the dog tomorrow evening - she is an angel, she already has a problem dog at home , her own GS.
The owner said he will tie the dog up to a tree in the park, leave it there and call the dog warden about a "stray" dog and my friend would not have it so she is taking the poor fury in and will be looking for a home for him...
Thanks everyone.0 -
Oh well done, how horrible are some people? How can you have a dog,or any animal come to that, and just abandon it or hand it over to the nearest person ? Doesn't sound as if the poor thing has had much of a life so far.Do keep us posted on what happens.Bless you and your friend for caring.
I cannot believe that about Battersea! I thought they were a very caring place.Just shows how wrong you can be!0 -
OMG!! How can people behave like this?!! It makes me so angry, I could never put a pet of mine through that. Do some people not have hearts? Grrrrrr!!:mad::mad:
On the other side of the coin are you and your friend who are doing the best you can for a complete strange dog. Thank god this dog is getting a second chance and I hope he settles into your friends house and gets on with her GSD. Your friend is a star and thank you for taking the time to care and do something for him! :T0 -
In fairness... the poor guy might have a mental health condition... after all it's not a normal action to be handing over your dog to perfect strangers on the street... At least the dog is safe for now...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Christmas is coming......some people. :rolleyes:0

Well, we hope he is not going to do anything silly before my friend can pick the dog up tomorrow evening.
To be honest, my daughter was the one who's was approached by the guy and she pulled all the right strings, she just would not let go about that dog.
Hope all will be ok - have to vaccinate and neuter the dog ASAP but will put some pennies together and take him to Celia Hammond - they do not charge much for neutering and vacination.
Just hope we can find him a home, just hope he is ok behaviour wise - will see him tomorow, may be able to post some photos then.
From talking to the owner the dog is "an outside dog", barks a lot (neighbours complaing hence eviction order) nipped few people... will see tomorrow.
I am off work (not well) to the end of the week so not much I can do myself but will at least help with the cost of neutering/vaccinating....
Thnks again everyone.0 -

What you can do seeing as you are home this week is to ring every rescue you can find to let them know of the situation and hopefully one will be able to offer a place in the not too distant future or have a foster home that has room
It would be better all round if the dog was found a place with a rescue so that it then can go through all the assessments needed before being re homed
Its heart warming to read of someone being so very proactive in helping a dog in need. Well done to you all that have been involved and if you need help with vaccs, neutering and worming costs - i can help with a donation0 -
I think this lad needs to go to a knowledgable rescue too - he is a big dog, sounds very nervous, not used to living in a house, and has nipped before - in the wrong home that could be a recipe for disaster... not to say he cannot be rehablitated, but clearly some work and assessment needs to be done first.0
