Hi
New to the whole nectar scheme and was wondering if anyone knows of any ways to collect nectar points without making a purchase?
I know of the Thomson Local one - 50 pts for any call made through a participating company (because im new i cannot post links but just google thomson local nectar)
Hope someone gets some use of of itI'm a Debt Free WannabePAID £4400/£6100 = 72.1% Busted!

Nectar points are worth 1p each if you redeem them for children's Eden Project tickets. Reduces ticket from £5 to £2.50 per ticket. 0.75p for adult's tickets, which means you get a £15 ticket (online price) for £10 worth of points. I think that's one of the best uses.

Except Nectar are leaving talktalk in mid August so not sure if even that will work.
Nectar used to be right up there with the Boots Advantage card in terms of offers and points you could gather- back then with Debenhams. Now its next to pointless (pardon the pun). They don't seem to want to improve it either.0 -

I thought I would read something in your loyalty points section about the fact that the trial Nectar point allocation scheme at Sainsburys in Scotland for the last year (only one Nectar point per pound under 50 spent, instead of two, like it used to be, and still is in England) has now gone permanent.
Discriminating against people on incomes which dont allow them to fork out over £50 every time they go shopping at Sainsburys.
This kind of regional discrimination shows what Sainsburys thinks of people in Scotland.0 -
Find these pretty pointless myself. In a couple of years, I've just got under 2000 points (last card had 2800 but I left it by mistake on the counter and some nice person cleared it for me). Got nearly the same amount from Tesco in a couple of weeks and they can be converted to BA miles etc which are far more useful.
Actually made a purchase through Amazon in May and should have got at least 180 points for that but never got them. Did get an email sometime later from Nectar saying the week in which my purchase had been made was not added due to problems. Eventually they said that they would give double points to make up for it but never got them. Not going to chase it up as it's not worth the effort.
Could use my points to get £10 off my shopping but there's really nothing else of any use. Even a basic magazine subscription of interest to me comes in at around 4500 points and I'm not planning on spending up to £2500 more just for that.
Prefer to buy from various shops online through other affiliate schemes as they give a far better deal at the end of the day. It's a shame Amazon don't go through say the BA or Virgin store. Do they go through QuidCo?0 -
If this is any use to anyone I used this the other day for a Free Eye Test (Normal Price £27.50) and 500 nectar points with Dolland & Aitchison.
Closing date: 30/08/2009
Points will be allocated within 28 days.0 -
Hi all this may have been a little cheeky of me but in my defence it was a discovery made purely by accident. I had over 9000 points on my card and went shopping to argos to buy a present for my sons birthday which cost 30.00, I then needed some food shopping so popped into the nearby sainsburys my shopping came to around 35.00 so I thought I may as well use my nectar card and use the last bit of cash in points towards my shoing bill, but after the cashier swiped it and I was ready to pay the rest with my debit card she said the nectar card had covered it!! I asked her how much was left on the card and she told me there was about 10.00 left on it!!! The points from argos hadn't had time to come off yet!! So I very cheekly bought two bottles of wine!! lol hope that helps some people on here.x0

I did a similar thing a while ago - bought something in Argos using Nectar points & then did food shop in Sainsbury's using points that had yet to be removed due to Argos purchase not going through the Nectar system quickly enough. I ended up with a negative Nectar points balance that took a while to clear, but guess it was the equivalent of free moneyor possibly a free loan (depding how you view it!)
