  • Of course he should. But definately don't let his new girlfriend know.
  • Honestly, "a present is as much about the thought as the money". How sweet. No, the point is whether she would like them. If she would then of course he should give them to her. He should just never tell her they were originally bought for somebody else. The important "thought" here is that presents are about giving pleasure and not about inflicting pain - not about using ebay because of some point about "conscience", that's just a load of extra pointless effort if she would like the presents anyway.

I want to meet this Tom, he gets a gf that quickly!?!?! I need some lessons!

    Oh last year..... nm......

(who keeps presents for 11 months??!)

Yeah, exactly. You go and buy presents for your partner a year before, it's not exactly romantic? How do you know their tastes aren't going to change, and they may actually want something completely different by the time Christmas comes around.

He would deserve to be single. It's not about how much money is spent, it's the imagination and thought.

But they were bought for someone else. And chances are she may find out, if he accidentally lets it out at a later date (which he may, if this was um, real, and not the internet).

So the "thought" would then end up inflicting pain, not pleasure.
  • If Penny doesn't know the full story then why not?

However, as Tom could be spending less Christmas this year he may feel better if he adds a 'Penny Personal' medium cost gift; so that he feels and looks a little better.

    Happy Christmas to everyone.
  • I don't see anything wrong with this so long as the jeans and mug are something she would actually like!
