The terms & conditions (from RBS site) include R21 account (see below)
Only available to new current account customers opening an Interest Paying Current Account, R21 Account, Royalties, Royalties Gold or Royalties Premier account between 1 May and 9 July 2006 who use it as a main account (as defined below).MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
I have applied for the interest only current account. At the end of application it said I was successful and then said I qualified for a credit card and loan facilities. I just ticked the boxes which said activate accounts but not sure what has now happened. However I wasnt aware I was being credit checked.
Also I selected a branch in the High ST, Inverness.
Yours very confused.0 -
done, i'll sort out the credit rating damage some other timeOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0

Hi guys, a little warning(?) or bit of advice
I upgraded to the royalties account as i was a pre-existing customer (get better rates on O/D, CC etc) but not as smooth as I was expecting - pretty hard to find out additional information from them about the benefits and getting calls from them trying to get me to upgrade even further. The first sales call was within about 2 weeks of upgrading so don't be surprised if they start calling!!! Suppose tho it's a small price to pay for 100 quid!

Can't you just keep it open, change your salary payment so it goes into RBS instead of your present current a/c, scoop the £100 then transfer your salary by standing order each month back to your present current a/c from RBS each month.
Thats what I am doing, and I will transfer back once the £100 has been deposited.Only one Debt left and thats the Mortgage

I had a phone call from RBS this afternoon, so asked exactly when does the £100 get credited to a new customers account. Was told 28 days from the account being opened. I had received a letter dated 5/6/06 from RBS saying the account had been opened, so will be watching out on 4/7/06 to see if it does get credited.
Having said that, I haven't yet received a paying-in book, PIN for the Bank card, neither have my Direct Debits, etc. been transferred from my current account elsewhere.0 -
got an agreement in principle today...£100 off my credit card sounds good to me!0

I noticed RBS also offer a matching overdraft for the bank you're switching from which is interest free for 6 months. I wonder if it's worth applying for an overdraft and earning 6 months interest by sticking it in an ISA.0

Don't you have to be a new current account customer to get the £100? My reading of that is that you're not (upgrading?). Even though you're taking out a new account.
Also, reading the small print (under "important information" on the RBS site), it says you have to make it your main account by tranferring DDs/SOs and/or salary. To me this implies we could get away without tranferring salary payments to the new account. Though i suppose most of us will do so, just so we're sure to get the £100Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery0
