Avon Hints and Tips (Part 3)

I used to do avon when I was 15 ( I know that is against the rules ) it was in my moms name. That was ahem 21 years ago. I loved it. Actually If I had known these hints and tips I would have done very well. I did pretty well as it was.
I am thinking about getting into avon again.... seriously. I've contacted avon a few days ago via their website requesting information on being a rep and an area sales manager. I've not heard anything.
I've got a couple of queries - It seems that to make the most you need to run a team and recruit reps to work with you / for you? From a rep perspective why would they want to do this what benefit is there?
If you ask Avon would they give you stats on what is the best selling lines by customer 'type or group' like the best selling lipstick for the 30 - 40 year old customer is X, people in the south are buying y?
Zoe
Might be worth mentioning what area you're in? Long shot but there may be some SLs on here, who would be delighted to add you to their team.
Am just teetering on the edge of becoming a SL and am still a relative newbie but it seems to me that there is 'strength in numbers' so if you're part of a team then you have someone fairly close at hand to bounce any queries off, help you out i.e. holiday cover, or even add something to their order if you put your order in too early and get a customer, who's 'desperate' for something 10 mins after you've submitted your order!
Also, some of us do our own little notes so again if your SL has put a lot of work into drafting out this/that/the other then it saves you the hassle. :T
Sorry, can't help re. Avon statistics...

Hi Bexr,
Can't say that 'my way' is 'the best' or 'the only' way but I've now had four incidents of reps' customer areas overlapping. I always think it's best for the reps to come to some agreement being that we all want different things from Avon and work differently i.e. some are content to just keep their long-held customer base whereas other reps are hungry to grow.
Personally, I'd much rather be able to ring another rep for help when I need it and, equally, reciprocate rather than go the 'poison dwarf' route. :rotfl:
For what it's worth, Bex, my advice would be to jot down the addresses of where you think you've potentially got a good relationship (and write down some reminders to yourself of anything pertinent i.e. have you given out samples/advice and/or why you think you 'gel') and, of course, whose already ordered from you. Then..... calmly and professionally, pick up the phone to the other rep and test the waters to see if you can sort out who is best covering where. Hopefully, if the other rep is equally as professional as you, then it will be easy to quickly draw up a list of which are your houses and which are hers.
At the end of the day, no-one can force anyone to use a certain rep and the more I do Avon (and Betterware) the more I've come to realise that the more you 'gel' with your customers the better the chances are that they'll place an order. Avon, presumably, agree in that as a company I can't see they're bothered who covers which streets - so long as the orders are placed then they're happy!Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Sorry, know I've been very 'verbal' tonight..... my turn to ask for advice please.
I've been asked to do a Ladies Night at a local Club. Of course, I've said Yes but haven't a clue what to do. Apparently, they don't want any games and they'll be doing a raffle themselves i.e. for club funds. Of course, am looking at ordering 'a certain' amount of stock to hopefully sell on the night and taking lots of brochures for people to take away and/or order from on the night but.....
Any tips please on what I should do/say? It's obviously different to a house party in that the club will be open to all members; not just ladies.
How do I go about samples? Do I order things and then stand the cost, living in hopes I'll be able to use them again and/or (:o:o:o) can I use them for samples and then send them back to Avon? Shhhhh......
Really fancy the idea of giving a free gift to everyone - or maybe just to anyone who buys/orders over £10? Hmm...... am brainstorming whilst typing this.
Any/all contributions very much appreciated - thanks!Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Thanks, will check that out although sometimes the online offers to us are more expensive than offered recently to Joe Public! (One of my pet hates....)Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

I was in my local newsagents yesterday and what did I spot by the front door on a display case? 5 C5 Avon books! I asked the Newsagent was he selling Avon, struggling with his english, he said no, they were free, take 1. So I looked at the back of one and didn't take it.. another new rep in my area....lol. But what a good idea! If the newsagents agree to stock your books that is! Good luck to her.
Have a sign up today and one tomorrow. Trying to replace the 3 I lost.0 -

In reply to an earlier post about being a sl, you certainly don't need to be a sl to be a good rep. My sales figures are mine and oh combined and we earn far more from repping than we do sl. You'll find sl can be a pain at times lol, it could well cost you far more than you earn for a while, with the cost of advertising, petrol and of course brochures as although Avon refund us for 40 brochures and a sign up pack, it is only once the rep has placed an order of at least mov. So if anyone changes their mind and doesn't place a first order, which happens quite often when they realise they have to put a bit of effort in. I'd suggest being a rep for a while, especially as a sl you are training people to be reps themselves which is hard if you have no experience, see how you get on and then maybe become a sl after a few months if it still takes your fancy.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0
