FLISSYS.....when registering did it take ages for them to send your confirmation email? if so how long? It told me they had sent an email with further instructions when i registered this morning but no email in inbox or junk...and none now either. x
I had problems getting registered to don't worry, I'd just send her an email and then should get sorted pretty quickly. If it isn't sorted by Sunday, then send me a pm with your name & email address and I'll pm her on flissys for you. Not much point before that as I'm out all day tomorrow.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -
Finally managed to get my bum in gear today and put books out to the rest of my territory. Not got motivation for it this time round (and it's only my 3rd campaign!), not sure why as my 2nd campaign was ok (£140 approx) but that was mostly f&f. 3 orders from territory/neighbours, although one moved out last weekend so I've lost a customer already.
I'm just finding it a bit disheartening not to have had many orders yet, although I know it's silly to expect people to be falling over their feet to order (!!!) so words of wisdom/chocolate would be appreciated!
Also, those of you who have put ads in newsagents, what kind of wording did you use? I'm going to have a scout around the places here and see where I can put an ad.
Thanks

Hi angelcatcher and welcome to the thread.
As my Sales Leader told me, you tell people that they should register as self employed, and to contact the Inland Revenue for further information, but that is all you can do. You tell them they are self employed, they do not work directly for Avon as employees but are self employed independent Representatives.
It is then upto the individual to register. However someone in the past mentioned, obvioulsy Avon keep records of all the people working for them as Independent Reps, and I assume if the Inland Revenue asked they could be given this information.
At the end of the day you have been advised and it is a personal choice.
Me, personally I have registered as it affects a lot of things in my life, ie Tax Credits, housing benefit, etcangelsmomma wrote: »You do need to register as self employed, sorry. It is the law and as it is you would be in real trouble with the tax office if they found out you were not declaring income.
Thanks for the replies. I just slightly confused after reading the first post of this thread and seeing the red warning, then the representitive looking at it and saying it really wasn't necessary unless you are earning £600-£700 each campaign.
I'm taking it no-one else has received advice such as this?
Anyway, this seems to get busy so will have to follow this closely from nowI'm not a complete idiot!........... Pieces of me are missing :rotfl:0 -
No - definitely not just you. There is a whole thread on the PC Forum on just this subject.
People are having trouble with the cord breaking, and also how to use the bloomin' thingsLots of them are being returned, so I'm not keen to sell any.
Haven't broken the cord (and actually can't see it would be a problem anyway because it looks remarkably like a shoe lace)..... Have a remote customer, who's encouraging her customers to order these in pairs (so as not to be lopsided! :rotfl:) Think rather than send mine back, I'll send her one to try it out herself. Maybe it's a youngster thing and they will be able to work out how to use it.....

Newbie here. Just wanted to say 'Hi'. :hello:
I posted recently with a couple of queries whilst I was considering signing up. Well... I am now signed up. I am going to start with C5 brochures next week, gives me a few days to get all my inserts, etc together.
Just a few more questions:
1 - when canvassing I am assuming you don't drop to those houses that have one of those notes along the lines of 'No canvassers, etc'.
2 - do you only accept cash as payment or do you accept cheques as long as they are backed up with a guarantee card?
3 - how easy do you find it to get additional territory? (assuming that there are roads that aren't already allocated to another rep).C5 £202; C6£541 :j; C7 £502; C8 £379; C9 £379

it says on the back of Book 5, pull the string out to spin the inner ball, then rotate your wrist to keep it spinning - how long can you keep it going.
Ok, a bit out there, but try taking it to a local Gym and asking one of the trainers to show you how to use it, they should have these or something similar and be able to show you how to use it.
Good luck.
Thanks for the tip but wouldn't even know where my local gym is! Think I'll send it to my daughter and see if she can work it out.....Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Most of my customers have a No Doorstep Sales/No Canvassers sign on their doors so I wouldn't rule them out, most of them mean window salesmen knocking and selling on the spot.
2 - do you only accept cash as payment or do you accept cheques as long as they are backed up with a guarantee card?
I accept cheques off several regular customers without a cheque guarantee card and have never had a problem, but it's up to you. Most people pay cash.

If the roads are available then your ASM/SL will want them covered. After a few campaigns getting started ask if there's more available if you still want it

Well done you for sorting out your first credit. Can be a bit daunting at first but you soon get the hang of it.
As for a few bits of encouragement...... Try and engage people in conversation so they get to know (and hopefully trust) you. I've had lots of people tell me that they only order via me because of X,Y,Z. (Don't care what XYZ is so long as they order! :T) You'll come to find that the little old lady, who doesn't see anyone from dawn till dusk, will be happy to order a 'bit of something' from you just to keep you calling. Word will spread and before you know it your round will grow.
You'll read on here about 'creative ordering' - that's fine once you have a decent customer base but until then the best advice I'd give you is to make sure you give your customers value for money i.e. sometimes they'll order from their current brochure but you can buy it cheaper from your other brochure. I tend to pass on those savings and, of course, let my customers know what I've done. Everyone loves a bargain and if you can show your customers that you'll try to make sure they get the best deal possible then they'll be far more likely to give you your business.
Another tip is that I encourage my customers to try products and if they don't like them - for whatever reason - then they can send them back. Chances are once they've bought the product they'll 'learn to love it' but if not, then they feel more at ease to order something if they know about the refund policy. (I tell my ladies I'm like a mobile M&S!) From what I'm told, customers don't like to send things back as they worry it will offend you/the rep. Don't particularly like losing the commission but do make a point of saying how easy it is to return things and I'd much rather they try new products and return them rather than not try at all.....
Good luck; keep persevering and when you come across that one person, who's been deprived of Avon for ...... months/years and is sooooo glad to find another rep, it WILL spur you on. Trust me - they're out there! :jMake the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Hi,
1. I drop to all houses. Those stickers tend to be for tradesmen callers. Avon are okay by the Direct Selling Association (think thats the name) although respect them if they ask you not to leave any more.
2. They recommend cash only although I accept cheques from my customers as I've known them for a few years. Cheques have to be made out to you, not Avon so its your responsibility.
3. Think it varies - been some horror stories on here but nothing ventured...Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Hi all
Looking for some advice as im really confused, lol
I use to sell avon years ago but gave it up. Anyway, i started again last week & have been given a territory which i have canvassed & done really well with for my 1st camp. I have £350 worth of orders. My area manager said something about a credit limit on your 1st campaign & she was going to get back to me to let me know what it was. As lovely as she is she is useless, lol & has hasnt. So today i phoned avon & was told my limit is £300. I dont really know what to do now, If i put £300 in on my regular order & then place an additional order will that work, or will i have to pay off the £300 first. Plus will the additional order have to be above the HOV to recieve the 25% commission.
I wouldnt mind but i use to be in presidents club years ago so they should know i will pay up on time! This is just making things really complicated.
Any advice would be welcomed
