BT Connection Charges (merged threads)

I had some luck with BT offering me the £95 discount on the connection charge, despite not returning from cable.UPDATE: I got a call back from BT a couple of days later about this connection charge. The lady I spoke to (who had previously said that the £95 discount on connection fee was for people returning from cable only) informed me that she had taken my request to her manager, who in turn had escalated the case up the BT ladder. She agreed that there was a discrepancy in the information that had been supplied to the sales operators and that they would honour my request to utilise this discount, even though I was not returning to BT from cable. She also quoted a 12 month contract, not 18!
So, it looks as though if you quote the exact URL of that notice then BT should be able to offer this deal to anyone.
I hope this helps someone

Had been trying for weeks to get this organised for my move next month. (in fact when I called today I only asked for the half-price line connection deal, but the automatically gave me the better offer). Anyway - order finally placed today. When asked here is the information I gave for the £95.00 discount.
Q. Where did you find the information?
A. It came up on Google when I searched for line connection and BT
Q. What is the URL?
A. It is http://www.serviceview.bt.com. I then search for line connection and this offer appeared
This was more than enough for them to agree the discount.
Total saved to date this year £13,319 on a spend of £27,803...0 -
re connection charge, my mum is moving to a new build on 30/5 and rang bt to move her line and was told she would have to pay a connection charge of £124.99, she was not impressed so she cancelled her bt contract with effect fron the 30/5.should I be able to get her connected on the deal that reduces this figure by £95?.clause 2 of that deal says 30 chargeable or inclusive calls per quarter must be made, does inclusive mean 30 calls at weekend when there is no charge?thanks

Yes.
Yes./........................Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I totally agree that this is a rip off. I moved from BT to Kingston Communications when they layed their cables in our area 5 years ago, for free because they wanted our custom. but now that there are a lot more internet packages out there, but a bt line is required, i want to go back to bt. i was told that even though i have a bt line to my house it would still cost £125 to connect. total rip off.0

You can get £95 off that £125 at the moment.

I Have read the posts regarding the £30 installation so i Rang BT. They started off with the £124, but when i mentioned that "a friend" had got installation for £30 they agreed to do mine for that, so i said yes and will get it within 11 days. :j
Thanks to all for the posts.0 -

Good to here. Dont forget that if your thinking of using a cheap call supplier , if you take this offer.
"Customers must make at least 30 chargeable or inclusive calls via BT every three month period or 10 chargeable calls or inclusivecalls per month if you are billed monthly."

We moved here three yrs ago, old house, there were 2 lines installed. We added a third and ADSLed all three. OK. We're moving next door, where the pillock of a developer has cut the BT wire so they say there's no service.
They want to charge £125 for EACH line, = £375 to move us less than 7 mtrs, the pole is directly opposite the house. I could take £125 for one visit to move all three lines but £375 for one visit stinks! For two or more lines they will reduce the fee per line to c£112....big deal! Any one got any ideas round this? Think I'll make them come out three times AND find me better lines! Think they'd notice if I moved them myself? GRRRRR.0 -

Are these business lines? Did you really need ADSL on all three lines? Have you read this thread or any others before posting? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
