Any chance of being able to cancel it?
Then going for the new offer - £30 installation:

oh damn !!
I spoke too soon
quention cheers for the info, that will teach me for only reading the last couple of posts.
I have just rang bt to see if they will honour the new deal. basically as I ordered the line a couple of weeks ago ( that will teach me for being organised) they can cancel my order and give me the new deal, but i wont be able to place a new order with them until after the originally agreed installation date 6/5 . he did explain why but lost me after about a minute !!
I would do it, but it means me being without a phone line/internet access /sky until I can get another date for installation which could be a week or so after the 6th , which for the sake of £32 isnt worth it.
I might still try and write to them once its installed about the new offer and see if as a gesture of good will they will refund the difference - as the saying goes, if you dont ask you dont get !!
ah well such is life !!
thanks again for the heads up !0 -
The BT rep may be confusing you.
Under their ts + cs you are entitled to cancel without charge before the service has started.
So once you cancel, then there is nothing to stop you applying for the different offer. (For instance you might be cancelling because the house move has fallen through. 5 minutes later another order could go through, this time from the new owner wanting a line - they would not tell them to go away and come back after May 6th!)
Of course, there may be a delay in the new installation because of lead in times, though you could find out what they are before you embark on the cancellation.0 -
After a few a attempts calling various numbers I managed to get my line sorted out. Called 0808 1002425. Spoke to a nice lady and asked her if she knew of the £29.99 deal and she said yes. NO mention of internet only or had to already be on cable. She asked me if a BT advisor quoted me this so I just said yes. May be beneficial to say that they have quoted this.
Hope it helps someone!0 -
I have just called BT for the 4th time, they are not doing the £29.99 offer to everyone, just cable customers returning to BT... I guess Lisa you maybe entitled to this, but I had a full blown argument with the guy and I now give up.
The half price offer ended last week apparently, this special offer is just for cable customers...0 -

I don't believe this, I just called this number... spoke to the same team as before and this guy was still telling me the offer is only being sold to cable customers!!
He didn't even know what Notice 21/08 was... I really can't be bothered now to ring anymore just to find that one person selling it to everyone!!0 -
If he didn't know anything about the Notice, he wasn't the right person to speak to!!
Keep trying.0 -
I can't, I'm at work...
He knew about the offer though, just not the notice... weird!0 -
Poor MissMuppet,
Now you know why some of us hate BT.
Shame they lose custom over thier poor customer service.
But I find the Indians at my local take away very nice they even give you a free brandy while you wait for shopping with them.
A pity BT use such cheap CS (Indian) people.0 -
I'm moving house, but my new house didn't have an active line so T wanted £124.99.
So, I rang through to see if I could get this offer if I started a new account.
Called through, told them I wanted to get a house reconnected. Went through the initial process and was told it would be £124.99. I then told him about the line connection offer (21/08) and he then asked if I was coming from a cable connection.
I said I could be if he wanted me to be, after which he asked if I was moving over my cable number. I said no and that the offer didn't mention cable anywhere in it.
Anyway, no more was said about it and I have a new line going in for £30 instead of £125.. Cheers to the OP who pointed this out..
Cheers0
