    Yes they are.
  • I'm moving a week on Saturday, rang bt a couple of days ago to get a new line installed and the bloke on the other end said it would cost £122.50. Then i thought i would look on my favourite website (this one) for tips, and this morning i did exactly what it says in the earlier posts and i've now got my bt installation for free! Thanks guys, and Merry Christmas to you all.
  • Anybody know how i can get the BT vision box cheaper than £90 without subscribing?
  • Have just moved into a new build and I phoned up last Friday about the deal, no problem at all, free connection, the bloke went through all the details, checks, took my bank details, but when it got to setting up appt. with the engineer there was apparently a problem with the system so he could not get me an appt. He said phone back monday and I could get the appt sorted.
Phoned on Monday, was told that the friday order had to be closed as no appt. was set up, had to go through details again and arrived at the engineer appt. part and, crash, bang, wallop, because it is a new build there was a problem with setting up an appt. Was then told that someone from BT Assist Team, or something like that, would call within 24hrs and get me sorted with a time. So it is now 48hrs past that and I have received no call.

Any lovely BT company representative care to help me out here?

I contacted the BT representative on here and received a prompt e-mail in reply, but it didn't really answer my question nor has responded to my further e-mail so I decided to cancel my order with BT for our new property and go with an alternative company. Customer Service has been an absolute joke. I was passed from pillar to post and spoke to 6 different people:
The Home Moving team couldn't help me, so passed me to Customer Options who couldn't help me so passed me to the Home Moving team who couldn't help me (no, I'm not joking about this, I wish I was ) who passed me to Customer Options who told me that they couldn't help me and would pass me to Home Moving...... when I told them that I'd just been passed over by them they said that they'd "talk to someone" and if I could hold on the line. The phone call was then cut off and I was back to the main Customer Service switchboard... who had to talk to someone else. The total phone call was 45 minutes and I've still got to phone back tomorrow to cancel the current phone line, even though I've cancelled it once already.

Furious and fuming doesn't even come close to how I felt at the end of that ordeal. I'm not saying that people need to wait on me hand and foot, but at least deal with a simple query surely?!

  • does anyone know if i am able to get a free connection by just taking out a line rental package or do i have to get broadband/tv with BT as well? i definitely need a new connection but the broadband is a lot cheaper elsewhere, even with the 3 months free offer.

You can take just the lowest BT package which includes free weekend calls - no line rental on its own. You can use the free weekend calls to make the 10 calls you have to make each month to be eligible for the free connection offer. Cost would be £12.50 per month or £11.25 if you go with paper-free billing.

You are then free to choose whoever you want for broadband.

    They're inclusive calls, not free.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
