Hello cb101,

It would be possible for BT to move the telephone point in your property however this would done as a shift and this would be chargeable. I will be more than happy to take a look at this for you if you could send an email for the attention of myself to btcare@bt.com with your account details and a contact number to reach you on. In your reply could you also put that you were contacted via Money Saving Expert and please put your username cb101. This is so we can trace the details of your complaint.

Yes, if you take the free connection offer, you're not eligible for the free evening and weekend call plan offer too.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

That's correct.

The free evening calls are only part of the rolling renewable contract. You are getting free connection subject to an 18 month contract.

You do have to pay it if you want the evening calls included.

Either that or sign up to Call1899 or Call18185 which is 0p per minute and a 5p connection charge. That would allow you 59 calls per month for the £2.95 BT are charging for evening package.

Sounds like you got one of BT's "I can't be ar**d" 'advisors'.

Grrr  I wish I'd looked at this thread before phoning up BT this morning to cancel at our current property (giving them working days notice) and then set up at our new property. I can't believe that we'll have to pay the £122.50 connection charge, despite there being two BT sockets in the house. I did query this at the time. :wall: My own stupid fault.

I can't even log onto my works number to see what status it's at and/or to cancel it. :(
