BT Connection Charges (merged threads)

I moved into an apartment last summer and, not for the first time, I was scammed with the BT £125 'connection charge' when there was very obviously already a line in there, the previous tenants having moved out weeks earlier leaving phones plugged in at every point.
A BT guy working in the building confirmed that an active line was indeed going in, and another one sent to install the line also confirmed the same, saying I shouldn't be charged. I told BT three times that they must NOT debit the connection charge from my bank account, but of course they did. They then refused to credit the £125 back to my bank account, insisting that it would be credited back to my BT account instead over the coming 11 months!
I told them they must repay me in cash exactly as they had taken it. They refused. Three months later there was no refund to my BT account either! The money was just gone.
I then gave them two weeks to refund all of it, which they refused, and then I sued.
Their defence states 'The Defendant contends that the sum has been credited back to the Claimant. Invoice Q003 shows the credited amount.' Of course this fails to mention that this is only a partial credit against a BT account over 11 months, and not the full cash refund to my bank account demanded.
After BT admitting their error in charging for the connection at all, they then state ' The Defendant denies that any charges have been raised on this account incorrectly' ... excuse me?!?!
Icing on the cake 'The Defendant seeks an order that the Claimant's claim be struck out, as the Claimant has no reasonable grounds for bringing a claim', the lying !!!!!!!s <-- (this is moneysavingexpert's censorship - not mine!)
I wrote to the District Judge enclosing copies exposing BT's lies and scam and he quite rightly listed the case for trial.

Hi Darth Trader
I can explain where the 'one chargeable call per month' comes from. This is not part of the connection charge special offer but is, as you suggested, part of the terms of the Unlimited Weekend Plan.
All customers on the Unlimited Weekend Plan need to make at least one chargeable call per month with BT to automatically receive inclusive weekend calls. Customers who do not make that one chargeable call will be charged at the standard rate. Full details of the terms of the Unlimited Weekend Plan can be found under 'things you need to know' on this page: http://www.bt.com/choices
Hope that helps to clarify where this condition applies - if you need me to check any specific details on your account, please send me a PM.
Cheers
Linda

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Hi hoping for some advice? Son has recently moved into new build - no previous line and was wondering the cheapest way to get line installed. He also wants sky - I think I remember reading somewhere that sky might install a line?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - tried reading through different threads but cant find the necessary info

Am moving for 2nd time in a year due to unfortunate burglary. As I rent I had to pay for the phone line to be installed here and I really didn't want to pay again as my new place has no phone line. landlord of course won't cough up so I came to have a look on my favourite website, rang BT and got it for the £29.35. Woo Hoo!! Thanks to all you savvy savers for saving me nearly £100!:beer:0
