Well done LittleSmurf. So glad it's all going well for you - great news on the amount you've managed to clear.

Don't forget to make use of the tips and tricks on the board. The less interest you pay on those debts, the sooner you'll be able to start saving for a holiday (and a handbag).

Finally told my oh today about my debt. Felt physically sick all weekend as had decided that this was the weekend to tell him as we didnt have the children or anything planned to do with others.

SO relieved.. he was absolutely fine about it and said that nearly everyone he knows has got themselves into bother at some point or other..Said if i need any help..BUT i have said NO.. I got into this mess..and now I am even more determined to get out of it...

It just got to the point where ( coming upto our 1 year anniversary) and also talking about future plans.. i decided if telling him would mean him ending things.. then it was better it happen now.. But he has been so supportive and i know feel like i should have bitten the bullet and told him months ago... :-) I am so happy that i no longer have any secrets from him...

To anyone else out there .. waiting for the right time to tell them...Go for it... if they love you ..they love you...and will want to help you whether it just support or even with paying off.. xxxx

Just wanted to say how important it is to tell your partner about your debt. I was in awful trouble and managed to get on a DMP with Pay Plan who are excellent by the way. Was paying them for 5 years, start debt was £43,000 Kicking myself now but it was my LBM. Anyway Lloyds TSB and barclaycard were awful constantly adding extra interest and charges despite hundreds of requests over the 5 years to stop. Anyway after apying for 5 years on my DMP and not a small amount either loyds decided that as I had been a particulary good payer and never missed a payment they wanted the balance owed clearing so passed in onto their debt collectors ( the company they own may I add ) I was getting really worried. Thought I would have people knocking the door. 5 creditors, Lloyds TSB 3 accounts, ( overdraft, 2 credit cards) EGG (loan), HFC (loan) I had managed to pay off £32,000 over the past 5 years. Anyway was feeling really worried so had to bite the bullet and tell my partner what a mess I was in and I owed £12,000, and do you know what, he said "why on earth did you not tell me 5 years ago " he could not have been more supportive and helpful ( he is an absolute star when it comes to money and has never owed anyone a penny ! ( wish I was the same ) anyway he made me call Pay Plan and get final settlement figures straight away and he cleared all my debts in one swoop. And do you know what, our relationship is so much closer now, we are happier and have fallen in love again, sounds sloppy I know, sorry about that. Bite the bullet please as its not that bad and you are not alone...
