I recieved a parking ticket today from Excel Parking for 60 pounds from the Moor Centre - Brierley Hill. They say I haven't paid for a ticket. Luckily, I had kept the ticket to claim back on expenses. I rang their dept. for appeals to say that I had the ticket in front of me and what information do they need of me. I was told they do not believe me and I need to write a letter in along with photocopying the ticket. I said that surely they can get the infomation from the ref. number on the side of the ticket. He refused and told me if I didn't do what he said the courts would take a very dim view of me. After 10 mins debating he put the phone phone down. I rang back and said why can't you simply enter the ref number of my ticket and you will see that I paid the full day rate. He started to get aggressive and said that I was making things up and he never said he couldn't, just that he wasn't prepared to do so. Again he put the phone down on me saying he had nothing more to say. This company should be closed down, I can prove that their system doesn't work. What should I do next...???

Do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING next. Totally utterly ignore the pure scumbags that they are. Also you will go nowhere near a court.
Don't forget the scumbag you spoke to is a PRIVATE citizen not a someone with so called authority to "fine" you. they are a PRIVATE COMPANY not the local police farce so just totally utterly ignore them. They have NO powers whatsoever to "fine" you or demand you do this and that. Tell them to foxtrot oscar.
Excel have lost in court and will not go there again.0 -
Report to Dudley Trading Standards. They already have a large file for this location.0

Yep, make complaints about them but do not contact the company themselves further.
There's a good info blog here on pepipoo forums by bama, regular poster:

It includes a suggested letter for complaining to the DVLA and to the BPA. Sounds like a waste of time to complain to the BPA but it's not because most PPCs are currently breaching the BPA Code of Practice - read it and you'll see that this means they should not be able to get info from the DVLA.
Complaints will win the day - also complain to your MP, the press and to the Moor Centre Management themselves for allowing this protection racket on their site.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I went to the Cineworld cinema in Middlesbrough on 06/04/11 where I used the on site parking facilities that is run by Excel parking. I parked in the ‘blue’ area that is for the leisure park customers only. However I received a parking ticket as the onsite parking officer claimed to have filmed me leaving the leisure park area. I did not know I was leaving the area at the time as there are no signs telling me where the leisure park boundary is. I left the alleged area to deliver a letter to a company just a minute's walk away. I then went to the cinema where I bought tickets for a show that started about 20 minutes later.
Now, I've read many of the posts here and am tempted to ignore this ticket and all subsequent communication from the company but I would like reassurance that there has been no change in the legal position since the last post here.
I would also like advice on the following course of action. Since the guy who runs this company has, according to some posts I have seen, a conviction for demanding money with manaces, I am minded to send any correspondence from the company that threatens me with action if I don't pay to my local police station requesting action regarding these menacing demands. Will I get anywhere?0 -
Consider yourself reassured
And no, you won't get anywhere with the police. It's a civil matterOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
I am reassured. There is a second question. Since these scumbags have access to the DVLA, do they also have access to my credit rating? Can they advise people like experian that I "owe" them money and get my rating downgraded?0
-
No they can't
Consider yourself re-reassuredOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
Thank you Halibut. Now, another question. In this parking area there is also a "money in machine" area run by the same despots. Do I have to put money in their machine?0

We on here would never condone not paying a fee for parking , the landowner has a right to make a reasonable charge, however these cowboys who lurk in these car parks prey on the gullible , and hoodwink people into paying an obscene amount of money on their pathetic rules, that in reality hold no weight in law!
As for the scammers effecting your credit rating, that is impossible as they would need to take you to the small claims, they win the case, you refuse to pay the judgement within 28 days, only then a ccj can be issued, you have more chance of winning the lotto jackpot.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0
