Yes the advice was very helpful and I thanked him for the advice he gave. I am just enjoying the break every few minutes away from my assignments to read your pearls of wisdom. If I was you I would give your lady a kiss on her cheak and tell her she looks beautiful, u never know where it might lead my friend. U might wake up in the morning with a smile on your face and a spring in your step singing a bit of Llionel Richie. But then again, I might find that the police has realised their mistake and send me a letter of commodation for my excellent driving. Not sure which is more statistically likely?????If you wish in this world to advance, your merits you're bound to enhance; You must stir it and stump it, and blow your own trumpet, or trust me, you haven't a chance.0 -

Mrs Meldrew should certainly get a commondation, she must have broke the law a bit worse than running a red light to have received a marriage sentance with youIf you wish in this world to advance, your merits you're bound to enhance; You must stir it and stump it, and blow your own trumpet, or trust me, you haven't a chance.0 -
OP going at 36mph in a 30mph area does not constitute the same risk as running a red light. Try telling this to the poor woman I saw who had her drivers door smacked into when some idiot jumped the light. Her car was pushed into railings and she went to hospital in an ambulance. The offending driver was just shaken with a dent in his car but he probably got fined, got points on his licence and will have a shock at his next car insurance renewal when the premium has gone up.
You committed a driving offence which you have held your hands up to but you must see that your actions could have been much more serious no matter what speed you were doing or the road conditions/traffic congestion at the time. That said, I hope you sort out the police/summons malarky.0 -

So while travelling at 2mph you thought that you could beat the amber lights and clear the junction in time before the other cars started moving??
That is more dangerous than i thought!!0 -

I don't think I can be compared to him. He was clearly driving dangerously and should have had much more than a £60 fine and 3 points, Undue care and attention and dangerous driving at the very least.
I do disagree on the comparison with 36MPH in a 30 zone. It is difficult to understand the situation without knowing the road and the circumstances. I am not one for running red lights as a rule, nore for speeding. In fact I drive on the motorway every day to go to uni and hardly leave the slow lane and am always dropping back leaving safe space and all that. I hardly ever need to touch my brakes on the motorway. I do pride myself on very good driving and safe driving. I would never put myself, my pasangers or pedestrians or roadusers at risk. I admit that my actions were illegal but will stand by the fact that I did not put anybody in danger in that situation. But that is not to be confused with me thinking that running red lights isnt dangerous cos of course it can be fatal. But on this occasion, driving at 5MPH all I did was nudge from one side of a line to the other in a queue of traffic. If you wish in this world to advance, your merits you're bound to enhance; You must stir it and stump it, and blow your own trumpet, or trust me, you haven't a chance.0 -

Not at all, there was a queue of traffic to my my right blocking the island so no traffic could have come through anyway. I literally moved 5 meters forward to join another queue of traffic. If you wish in this world to advance, your merits you're bound to enhance; You must stir it and stump it, and blow your own trumpet, or trust me, you haven't a chance.0 -
Simple enough for them to note registration number for later action. By crossing the red they compounded any danger. I would write to the Chief Constable.
Oh do! Give them a really good laugh.Deep_Ocean wrote: »I take it everybody who has wrote negatively on here has never gone over the speed limit, or gone over on amber when u should have stopped. Get real. He without sin cast the first stone.
I have never run an amber or red light and do not speed...hang on, just nipping into the garden for some stones.Deep_Ocean wrote: »So get off your high horses and stop preaching like you're something special. !!!!!!!!!!
