Quite an interesting thread all! I'm not really a food waster (i'm more of a waist grower
) but just wanted to say to those that have had strawberries go bad very quickly that i suffered from this too.
However something has changed now and they last much longer than they ought to! I'm hoping it's because of weather or something but it might be down to the fact i'm not buying them at morrisons now but tend to get them from tescos. Probably means they're full of some terrible, unnatural, genetically modified keep-em-fresher chemical though so i plan to go and do a 'pick-yer-own' this weekend as an experiment.
A very yummy experiment.May report the results back here if i remember.

Today I've thrown out two bags of new potatoes, which had sprouted and moulded and explained the strange smell in kitchen, some manky onions and a very very WRONG grapefruit!
Oh and a stir fry mix from tesco which was reduced but still very wasteful. Must learn to eat the veg!!!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
What went wrong with the grapefruit? am intrigued.....
Have chucked out the remains of a loaf that was varying shades of green & blue, one very dead half cucumber that went all runny in the middle & a lemon that had atttached itself to the bottom of the fruit bowl!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

What a great thread!
I've thrown out 1 tub of that italian pasta salad stuff you can buy, a couple of eggs, some beansprouts and some mushrooms that had liquidised themselves and left a funny grey/brown type liquid in the bottom of my fridge. However, the beansprouts and mushrooms my OH bought to cook for himself so he's the wasteful one there! Was debt free... then went travelling!0 -

It might just be my unique experience, but when stuff goes mouldy it tends not to smell that much (though open it outside unless you want a face full of green powder). When it goes runny though - then it honks... _pale_ "Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
