What an interesting thread. I try not to waste much but when you have a picky child, it is not easy. Usually her sandwich crusts go into the compost and anything else that gets left on her plate. However, some tips that might help other waste that work for me - use the "stay fresh" green bags from lakeland. Fruit and veg keep longer in these and if they do go off, they do not make a mess over the bottom of your fridge. I have had mine for years and wash them out when they have been used. I keep my potatoes in a potato bag from lakeland in the garage. Polythene bags from the supermarket are the worst things to keep fruit and veg in. Bananas in the fruit bowl will make the rest of the fruit go bad. I freeze whole bananas - even the black ones and then use them in banana cake, bread, muffins etc. Just snip off the top of the banana and squidge it into the mixture - no mashing required! Hope this helps keep the waste down!0

Haul for the week - 1/2 loaf of interestingly decorated bread, 1/4 pint milk.
Am in dilemma over natural yogurt - how do you know when it's gone off??A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Bad week for me - a leek, half a pint of milk, two slices of toast that I burned beyond redemption (although from a 10p reduced organic loaf) and some rice pudding I stuck in the fridge but didn;t cover so has gone all dry, some gammon, and more bread.
Normally I don;t throw anything.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I like the idea of frezzing peeled bananas for smoothies, the OH will love that.
But my freezer is so full.
This week:

Bag of mixed lettuce leaves, why do they do that so soon go all yuk in 2days!
Going to go back to icebergs etc..:rotfl:0 -
