Shortie wrote:You know what Linda32.... I've just realised one one my few decent non pokey under wired bras in an Avon bra. I think it's my longest standing bra at the moment, and though a bit bobbly (maybe I shouldn't have admitted that I keep bobbly bras :rotfl: ) it's still really sturdy etc.
Off to Avon online now me thinks. Hey... I think I can get Piggy points to with Avon stuff.... Woo HooI expect we all have one bobbly one. I've seen Avon on piggy points but since I don't have to pay delivery, I'm not sure if I'll benefit
Which reminds me I have a boots gift voucher to order :T0 -
I wear only non wired bras because I could never find a wired one that didn't stick in me.
I am 38DD and use M&S extra support, suit me fine0 -

I used to be DD but am FF now, I have a very narrow back, only take a 36, so buying bras is a nightmare, which was why it was so great to get the Warner ones, I knew they would fit. I must admit I have several that no longer have any wires in, they cost £20 each so I'll wear them till they fall to bits. There are times though when I want to look good so I have a couple of wired ones I save for going out etc........:happyhear0

Sorry if this has been addressed previously - I did a search, but bra is only 3 letters long and I think it falls underneath the search threshold.
I have an ongoing problem with the underwire in my bras - after a month or so, it pops right through the fabric either underneath my armpit or through the middle bit. None of my friends share this problem, so I don't know if it's just me!
I've tried loads of ways to keep the underwire in, but I haven't had any sucess. Sewing, no matter how tightly, seems to just redirect the wire and make it poke out in a new place. I've tried that iron-on fabric but I can't seem to get it to adhere because the fabric is uneven.
Any suggestions? I'm desperate because I'm spending way, way too much money on bras!!0 -
May be a daft idea but... do they fit properly?? Could it be the pressure from wearing a bra that is a little to small? May be an idea to get yourself measured....if you havn't already? It is so easy to wear one that doesn't fit properly without realising.0

Not had this problem with bras but my sister had a boned corset style top that did this. Mum sewed a piece of ribbon like a pocket, tightly over the top of the wire, poked it back in and stitched it up. Seemed to work as it padded the end of the wire.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

I would dip the sharp ends of the underwire in about three coats of clear nail polish to form a little bobble at the end of the wire and hopefully stop it working its way through the fabric. My DD has this problem occasionally on her expensive Bravissimo bras  , I use a small amount of white (if the bra's white) bias binding tape to patch the hole where it's stuck through. I use it like a patch; hand sew a piece to one end of the wire tape, push the wire out of the way, and wrap the binding as neatly as possible over the hole and over to the front of the bra, and sew it down.
Clear as mud, I bet, sorry! If I've confused you further, let me know and I'll try and explain better....

Hi eryn_kathleen,
Thanks for searching.........the search is a pain sometimes! We do have an older thread that should help you so I'll merge your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

Yeah, I should have added to my original post that I have been measured, and I was really excited about my most recent two bras - really comfy, pretty good quality, and I was totally convinced that would stop the problem. No such luck!
Oh, and I do handwash (the wired ones, anyway). I put one in the washing machine when I was 15 or 16 and it got really twisted and deformed!0 -
I had mine measured a m&s and is still did it, bit its grey now already so i was to embarassed to take it in and complain. I always find the wire is too long, as in it pokes into my armpit even efore it starts to move. although i did have a bit of luck by taking it out rubbing it with candle wax ( random idea i know) and then really forcing it back in, it gives it just enough friction to say put. i only cool wash and its been alright since then. I only have 2 bras!! lolIt only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
