Having been recently measured I needed to get some new bras, but without spending a fortune and have been delighted with the selection of 38E bras in Asda for a fiver :j :j

Okaaaayyy.... Am I really posting this?

I have managed, somehow, to bust what feels like my billionth underwired bra by having th wire poke out of the side

I'm fed up of spending money out on the darned things to find they either poke me under the armpit all day and hurt like made by lunchtime, or after a while the wiring feels the need to break free! :rotfl:

Anyone know how I can fix my broken bra 'strongly' and comfortably, and what they heck am I doing wrong when I guy them?

I get measured often in M&S and La Senza and have mentioned about being poken all day while having the fitting, but get really odd looks.

Why do I break so many too? I wash them in the machine and not by hand, but then everyone I've asked washes theirs in the machine and have no problems

    Heeeellllpppp!

I am afraid its the machine washing which does it and if you try and wash one by hand you will notice a difference - I buy cheaper ones and wash them in the machine!
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j
  • I have the same problem but very rarely machine wash them

  • When you get fitted are you comfortable with the fit?

I've found that the smaller the cup feels the more likely I am to loose the wiring. Bras are different depending on their styling, and I just buy what feels comfortable.

When you try them on does the middle of the bra sit flat on your sternum?
If it's underwired it should not poke forwards at all. Does the wire fit all around all of the breast? If it's poking you under the arm, I would think you need a bigger size or different style?

I always shove mine in the machine, life's too short to handwash, and since I realised that I was buying my bra's too small I have not had that problem.

One of the reasons could be that you are not getting the correct size....... go to a shop that has a properly trained corsetiere.... John Lewis have them and so I think do Debenhams.

I had the same trouble for a while, was still wearing the same size and I had 'expanded' a little bit, so needed a larger size, I wash mine by hand. I am having to look for a new make I used to wear French Collection by Warners but they have stopped making them. I used to be able to get then through the littlewoods catlogue, but they no longer have them. I bought several, so am ok for now, but will have to start searching soon.

My expensive ones always broke & poked, now I buy the cheap padded ones from Tescos, never had an issue. Always machine wash.

  • always get cheap ones, as others have said, lifes too short to handwash - have you got a handwash or gentle cycle on your washing machine?
if you can sew, you could try pushing the wire back in, then stitching over and around it to keep it in.
try asda, they do bras in a really wide size range, v.cheap. i have had many that poke me in the armpit too! but find the asda ones dont do this.
  • As soon as you purchase them, add a few reinforced stitches at both sides where the wire pops out from.

I have that problem and they dig in and hurt like hell - have been known to whip a wire out and bin it when out on the town if one has decided to BURST through at that time.
Good job I am tiddly though as I have one well raised, under wired boob and tother one hitting my knee cap. :D
