Shortie wrote:Scarey thought going up a cup soze as I'm already a DD and struggle to find decent bras where I usually shop.
Thinking of the descriptions of the cup size people have said about, it almost feels like the wiring is too deep (or should that be high up?) and maybe that's a symptom of wrong cup size...
I know what you mean, after having the kids I found I had gone from a D to a G, and when I was preggers I had to wear nursing bras in *cant believe I'm admitting this* a K cup!!!!!
I've always bought cheap and cheerful, well as cheap as you can with a big bust, they always seem SO expensive, and I have the wire prob too. I think I might treat myself and have a proper fitting at Debenhams or Bravissimo (do they have a high street shop or is it only online?). I'd love to wear a comfortable one!WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
I got measured in Contessa and the lady really knew her stuff found Iwas wearing totally the wrong size
I only ever wash bras in a hand wash some washing machines have a hand wash programme mine does and I never td them and since I've been doing this I've had no problems
pamI didn't say it was your fault, I said I was going to blame you

Thanks for that Mrs_Mix, I've just gone to their online shop where they give you links to their nearest stores, have a guide to at home measuring and have some bras "buy one get one free" and some (even in larger sizes) at 2 for £20!!!!WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

I used to have lots of problems with wires until I was properly measured by Bravissimo in Covent Garden. I went up from a DD to a G cup ( ) but Bravissimo specialize in pretty bras in larger cup sizes so I don't have any problems buying my size. In fact, going shopping there is a bit like sending a kid to a candy shop! Rigby & Peller is great but is even more expensive than Bravissimo.....0

Poky wire syndrome is inevitably a sign of bad fit and I'd recommend you go somewhere else for measuring. M&S bras don't suit me at all for some reason and I've never been able to get a satisfactory fit from them in any size or style.
I agree with the previous poster, Bravissimo are the best for me and their staff are experts. You really need to go to one of their shops though, locations are on the website, and be prepared to try on several different styles and brands til you find the one that's right for you.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Think I will have to try Bravissimo, there is a shop in Nottingham, not too far from us. I used to be DD but am FF now, I have a very narrow back, only take a 36, so buying bras is a nightmare, which was why it was so great to get the Warner ones, I knew they would fit. I must admit I have several that no longer have any wires in, they cost £20 each so I'll wear them till they fall to bits. There are times though when I want to look good so I have a couple of wired ones I save for going out etc........

I use a website but not sure if I can put it on here? I find their bras go up to ginormous and are well made and generous, price wise they are very good too. They specialise in larger ladies.:o
The company is called Naturally close and I have no links apart from being a customer.0 -
A couple of months ago, I had a splurge and spent quite a bit of money on some new bras and everysingle one losta wire within the week, always the left on aswell.
One time I was walking about and didn't even notice the wire was poking out of one of my tops!!!!!!!!
I have been buying M+S Total Support Bras which don't have any wires as these just seem to support me better and everytime I was they are just like new and seem to support even more. Soon my boobies will be under my chin!!!Proud to be me, proud to be who I am!!0 -
Hi, Assuming you do have the right size the best bra I've ever bought and won't buy any other now is the T shirt bra from Avon for £5.00
Now I obviously had reservations but they are excellent, really nice and soft. I am a DD cup too and they are slightly padded but it just makes them soft.
You can order directly from their website, you don't need to have a rep call. Although I beleive there is then a £2.50 delivery fee.
As for washing, I put mine inside a pillowcase and wash with the bedding, never had a problem with these poking through.
I don't use fabric softener at all.0 -
You know what Linda32.... I've just realised one one my few decent non pokey under wired bras in an Avon bra. I think it's my longest standing bra at the moment, and though a bit bobbly (maybe I shouldn't have admitted that I keep bobbly bras :rotfl: ) it's still really sturdy etc.
Off to Avon online now me thinks. Hey... I think I can get Piggy points to with Avon stuff.... Woo HooApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500
