i wonder if anyone can help me.
im pants at making things for myself and have tried 'natural and paraben free' shampoo and conditioner on my hair from holland and barret to no avail. my hair seems clean enough but lank and grubby looking still?
i have greasy roots and dry ends, which is natually fly away/static.
  • Thanks for the ideas ladies! So many good tips :)
  • You can make homemade lipgloss easily, you just need fruity flavoured milkshake powder(I used strawberry) and some olive oil, you put them in a small container and mix it together a bit, then put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds to fuse it together and then put it in the fridge until it hardens, if you want to speeden the process up a little bit, however i did that, and it went a bit TOO hard lol, it tastes nice and is a relatively quick and easy recipe, hope this helps! :)
  • wow this is really nice post and good discussion going on here..................
somebody tell me how can i protect ma hair from dust..............??????????????
  • Oh no - I've got my first age spot (on cheekbone)! Easy to cover, but I wondered if anyone could recommend a product to fade it?

I have tried using one from No 7 but I used it for 4 weeks and saw little difference (if any).

It needs to be a reasonable cost (something home made would be nice !)

Anyone know something they could recommend?

I make my own facial and body scrub out as follows: equal parts sugar and olive oil and a spoonful of honey. My skin feels amazing after that.

I used a mix of jojoba oil and sweet almond oil as a moisturiser at night and I think £5's worth is easily going to last me a year.

I make face masks out of honey, bananas too far gone for eating and the aloe vera plant I grown on my windowsill.

Olive Oil is also an excellent hair conditioner :)
  • Where is the cheapest place to buy the rhassoul clay ?

    thanks xx
  • I did a bit of research on products for skin firming, as I have recently lost about 3 stone and feel a bit jiggly - loads of the products contain caffeine... some more googling and I found loads of recipes for home made exfoliators based on coffee grounds.

Since I drink filter coffee and throw the grounds away I thought it was worth a try! (nothing to lose!) - most of the recipes seem to contain coffee grounds, some sort of oil and sugar or salt. I made one with coffee grounds, a tablespoon or two of salt, a glug of olive oil, some runny honey and a drop or two of vanilla extract - the honey seems to make it easier to apply and less 'crumbly' - I don't think the proportions matter too much, just get it to a consistency which you feel happy with.

I have found it works very well as an exfoliator - leaves my skin very soft and smooth. However, it does make the shower look like an explosion in starbucks :o ... but it has almost totally got rid of the slightly pimply bits on the back of my upper arms, which I've always had... as for firming - the jury is still out on that one, but I will let you know if I notice any discernable difference!

However, as a general body scrub, its certainly as good as anything I have bought, and it's virtually free!

Lemon juice is supposed to get rid of age spots - although not sure I would like to use it on my face. I have one and I am trying to pretend it is a rather large freckle.

Anti Ageing Face Serum Recipe Dry Mature Skin

    Face Blend for Mature Skin
    frankinsense- 2 drops
    rose- 1 drop
    sweet almond oil- 1 Tablespoon
Blend essential oils with almond oil and use on your face to tone and rejuvenate mature skin. Use a few drops of this blended mixture as needed.

In any of these blends the Almond Oil can be substituted for another oil of your choice or moisturising lotion.

massage on damp cleansed skin (several drops) am and pm.
I have very normal skin although 55, this I would not recommend for anyone with oily or acne prone skin. I use this under my mineral make-up,
I just wait 15-20. minutes for skin to fully absorb the mixture.

Evening oprimrose oil or rose hip seed oil-10 drops
2 tablespoons of ONE of the following - hazelnut sweet Almond or Apricot kernel oil
Blend all ingredients in an amber bottle After it is well blended, apply a few drops to the face and neck area each night after cleansing and toning your skin.

If you want to use the Evening Primrose Oil in this blend the easiest and most cost effective is to buy Evening Primrose Capsules (Gel capsules) and cut the end off and squeeze the oil into your blend. Since it is such a small amount that it is needed.
