Its an outgoing free/cheap call dial through service from the UK to numerous destinations,UK and Intl. Not inbound.Which some networks allow you to call out of x-net minutes.

It can be used anytime depending on destination. Full list and times are here

Technically you could call it while you are roaming abroad but it would be of no financial benefit to you,as you would pay roaming charges to do so.

best not to use from outside UK as it will cost you a roaming charge to call a UK number....

is it true tht orange put up a recorded msg if they start charging the 07744 no.
but my updated min still dont include the no. of minutes ive used calling this no. apart frm tht it is only including the min ive used 2 call within UK

Orange would not just charge for one specific 07744 number. They would charge for all or none at all. As far as i can see they are not charging at moment,and have not been doing so for some time.

Before September 07744 number was not in Orange inclusive minutes and there was a recored message "You will be charged at premium rate for this call, If you want to continue please hold otherwise hang up"

Regarding to your situation, normally when you check your remaining minutes it tells your time when they updated your accounts, does your calls falls within that time, Other mistake normally user do that they dial 07744 number and when connected they are supposed to key in International number, you SHOULD NOT press SEND or green button on your mobile, and it is advised in announcement by YourCallWorld and may be SF. What happened with my friend he dialled 07744 number and after keying in international number he pressed the SEND key which was charged as international call. In his bill it was displayed as

01/01/2006 09:31 04477XXXXXX 00:03:15 Inclusive
01/01/2006 09:32 0092544XXXXXX 00:38:16 Excluded

As you can see the first call was started at 09:31 of duration 3 minutes but when he dialled the international number it was considred as new DIRECT International call which was charged by Orange as International rate. So hope you guys understand my point, So DONOT PRESS SEND KEY WHEN DIALLING INTERNATIONAL NUMBER THROUGH 07744 Access number.

Its very clear on the SF site,i quote.

"from your mobile simply dial:
At the prompt, dial your International destination number - followed by # only (do NOT press 'call' after your destination number). "

just chekd my orange remaining min update they have now taken out the minutes i used 2 call SF but guess after how many days???????? 4days!!! isnt their service pathetic never gonna rely on their update now
