At the moment, in my fridge, there is a box of 15 eggs, a tiny bit of cheese, some milk, and some parsley.
Tea supplies did indeed mean tea and coffee, various different types, as my friend gave me all of his fruit tea / herbal tea.
In the freezer, there's some chips, and 2 slices of gluten free bread. Really not much in there at all!
I will definately check out those links.
Many Thanks

Just found two packs of diced chicken breasts in the freezer too...
So I do have something more substantial than just chips!

I'd like to join in this. I have no idea how much I spend in a month because I know the price of nothing but the value of everything. I'm going to have to learn price as well as value. So I'll take a ball-park figure of £200.00, which will include everything, cleaning, cat food & litter, toiletries.
I'm hoping this will make me plan more, use less expensive shops like Lidl (I LOVE thier potato salad), stop going to the little shop, only buy if it's on offer as far as I can, and generally cut down my spending so I can pay off more of my debt.
Edit OOPS I posted this on the wrong board. I meant it to go onto the August Grocery Challenge. Sorry!!Nat West CC,£2112.83 Nat West BankA/C £441.48 Egg Money £15?? Alliance & Leicester £546.92

Hi all, its been a tough 5 weeker this month and I refused to go shopping until monday of this week as I was so skint. So.. I only had a couple of things left in the freezer towards the end of last week and had to fill it up with scrunched up carrier bags so that I was wasn't paying to fill empty spaces! Once all items were gone I had one day left before I could shop and started panicking! Came up with an idea and thought this is going to taste awful, but was really lovely!! Partner loved it as well although when he saw me preparing it he had a right face on him! Here goes....
1 Red Onion finely chopped
1 Carrot grated
Bit of garlic if you have it or powder
2 teaspoons lazy chilli or alternative
Precooked dried beans, I used black and aduki (soak overnight then boil rapidly for 10 mins then simmer for 20 mins)
Tin of tomatoes
2 Tablespoons tomato puree
Ball of Mozzarella
Bit of cheddar to grate if you have it
6 Soft tortillas or less if you don't have 6
Fried off the onion with the carrot, and garlic, then add the beans. Cook for a few minutes, then add tom puree, tin of toms and chilli. Cook down for 10-15 mins till mixture thickens. Turn heat off and cool slightly. Warm the tortillas in the oven then divide the mixture between the tortillas fill and roll up the tortillas. Place side by side in an ovenproof dish, then crumble the mozzarella over the top ensuring all the tortillas are covered. Grate a bit of cheddar over the top if you have it. Bake in the oven on about 190 for around 20-30 mins or until cheese is browned.
This was really yummy and really filling and also quite cheap to make.0 -
hi all..
planning on taking the children out for a few days out over the next few weeks...may even be getting away for a couple of days to..
so would like to spend the least amount on food shops now so that we can bank a bit of money so we can enjoy the days out and things without worrying about money..
just wondered what was the littlest amount you have found you can spend in a week on groceries ???...0 -
Best bet would be to do a Grocery Challenge. Rummage through everywhere and make a list of food that you have and then plan your menus around that with as small a spend as possible.

Panic alert! I have to cook dinner for 6 people tonight and have the following:
chicken thighs
lots of potatoes
3 peppers
onions
garlic
passata
red wine
usual herbs & spices
Is there some amazing one-pot wonder I can make that will be ready within an hour? I don't mind having to go to the shops to pick up some bits and pieces.
