Well done nuttybabe and esmf, and welcome dilulvdiscounts!
No we did not get kfc. I think it's quite yuck actually!
We had curry, I found some paste in the cupboard and I threw in half a small pt of sour cream, and some left over tinned toms from the fridge. It was mostly veg but i put in 100gs of prawns from the freezer. I made 50g of rice each but I think 40g would have been enough I think.
i had a slice of toast this morning, that was the last of the bread so I got some white finger rolls that were left over from a bbq last summer out. We had roast chicken for dinner, i made some coleslaw from some carrots and cabbage i found in the bottom of the fridge for myself. i added some chopped onion, then put a tablespoon of mayo, a tiny bit of single cream to thin it out and a tiny bit of olive oil. It was pretty good actually! h2b and DS had parsnips with sesame seeds I found in the back of the cupboard, and carrots with honey and pecan nuts, again from the cupboard.
Then I found soms shortcrust pastry mix, some ready to mix powdered custard, and I remembered we had raisins and sugar/spices in cupboard, and bramley apples chopped up in the freezer, so i made an apple pie too:D we are going to have that in a minute.
Tomorrow chicken rolls for lunch, and i am going to put the carcass in the slow cooker to make some soup. I haven't decided what to do for dinner yet. We are a bit low on meat in the freezer i noticed - we have probably got four meals though. I think I might make some sort of pie or casserole tomorrow, and then I can throw all sorts in and no one will ever know...except you guys of course!I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Also I have done a meal plan for the week but not sure we have enough potatoes I have got a pack of Mr mash in the cupboard so I may use it to bulk out the salmon fishcakes on Tuesday so that may get me by.
OH wants Hunter Wellies for his birthday so I've just made him order them now so I can definately say we have been spend free for the whole week!! He doesn't really get it but hey ho these things make me happy
I think that is okay, I will pay into the milk club when I go back to work too.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Well, I made chicken stock from the carcass overnight in the sc, I have just thrown a load of veg in it after fishing the chicken bits out, going to make chicken and veg soup for lunch today - have turned it up to the high settting.
I have given the cats the skin and gristle from the chicken for a treat, I have been feeding them a bit less recently as one of them is getting tubby. One of DS's friends asked if HE was pregnant
I made chicken rolls for h2bs and DS lunches, so have made the most of the chicken.
I made bread dough last night and left it in the fridge to rise - apparently leaving it for longer in a cold place makes it taste better. Taken it out to rise for another hour or so before baking it.
Going to make Twink's hobnobs today too as we only have two grapefruits and a lemon left, poor DS needs a little something else in his lunchbox, one of those will make him smile
For breaksfast Ive had one weetabix, I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds then left it and it expanded :rotfl: threw some mixed fruit and nuts from the cupboard and it was very filling actually! We have got loads of cereal, but I think the residents of the Taadaa household need to cut down on their portions a little xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. Im also on a mission not to spend any more money till the start of next month. Have a freezer full of food and cupboards with stuff that has sat there for months and just not been used.
Will have to put my thinking cap on and do some meal plans or we could end up with some odd dinners by the weekend :rotfl:0 -
On Saturday we got carried away in the garage clearing and painting and never made it to the supermarket.
So I got some left over roast lamb that we'd minced out the freezer, along with frozen beans and carrots and the last of the potatoes I bought a couple of weeks ago and made a sheperds pie (with a few bits from the cupboard for extra flavour) and it was very yummy.
I think I'm going to have to try and do this more regularly!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Well I've had a no spend day today and you have no idea how pleased I am as never a day goes by when I don't have to buy something or other but not today.
However I know this thread is for no food spend but I was going to try and not spend any money at all but unfortunately I have to take the dog to the vets tomorrow so that will cost a fortune I'm sure probably far more than I will save not buying food this week.
Anyway enough negatives now the positives
1/ I have defrosted the freezer in the garage
2/ I spent my breaks today sat down eating my lunch were as normally I am running round town getting my shopping done
3/ My chickens laid three eggs today so looking promising for tomorrow nights tea with salmon fishcakes!!
Can't wait for another spend free day tomorrow (perhaps if I tell the vet he might treat her for free)0 -

i did the same, had chicken last night and with leftovers, lunch today and evening meal and lunch tomorrow.
I have not spent anything today. I had to go into town to pick up dh dry cleaning and resisted going in any shops! Yay!
Day 2 - success :T
Hows everyone else doing?0 -
Yep, had a good day today, no money spent on food...well no money spent at all, but I can't promise it will be an nsd tomorrow
I made a stew type thing for dinner, threw some frozen veg, a small amount of tinned toms left over from the fridge, two lamb neck steaks dipped in flour and browned, four turkey 'bacon' rashers that needed using, a beef oxo cube, two cups of water and left it on high for 6 hours. Towards the end I put some peas and cornflour in, and some spices. h2b loved it - I thought he was going to take one look and suggest kfc again :rotfl:All mopped up with some hm bread nom nom
Tomorrow, the leftovers of tonight are going to make up a pie. Ive got soup left from earlier for their lunches. I am feeling very proud of myself :money:I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off
