You can sprout them!! I did it last week and they were delicious. I'm very new to sprouting but got all my info from this thread:

So, I have noticed that my iron grip on the domestic budget has slipped a little this month for various reasons.
So, I have decided to try and keep us out of the overdraft - it's free but it's the principle of it - by using up what is in the cupboards for the next seven days rather than going out and buying more food stuff.
We have got cereal in the cupboard and the milkman delivers our milk, so breaskfast is sorted. I have got stuff in the cupboard for making bread too. Bit worried about running out of squash as DS won't drink water...will have to tell him we are doing a fun experiment to see how long we can make it last. Maybe then he won't fill it half way and throw it down the sink after a couple of gulps .
Anyone care to join me? xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Cool. I've just got a whole chicken out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow, there should be enough for lunches on Monday too. I think the key to this is planning ahead so we don't get caught out! I don't have much fruit though, but Ive got plenty of veg in the freezer. xI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Don't forget to use the chicken carcass to make stock for soup so you can get another meal out of it and use up any sad looking veg from the bottom of the fridge at the same time. As long as you have plenty of veg I wouldn't think eating less fruit will matter if it's only for one week. We had an 'eating from the freezer' week not long ago and it's a great feeling not only to have saved money but to have finally made a hole in the freezer!
