i think you will actually find this very easy and good fun too!! in fact i want to throw it in there that you are as inventive and experimental as poss- you get extra brownie points for inventing new recipes!!
p.s peanut butter stirred into pasta is not only yummy and filling but good protein and omega 3 fats too!!- just add a bit of soy or worchester sauce!
    :silenced:
I think tabskitten is a crying, walking, sleeping, talking, living troll
  • I've got the following to use up:
    A couple of peppers
    Soft cheese
    Sweet potato

I've also got quite a few basics in the cupboard, fridge and freezer, including chicken, tinned fish etc. I was thinking of some sort of bake, does anyone have any ideas?

    Did you get kfc?

Day 1 of the challenge today for me! We are all going out for the day so i have made a packed lunch. And i am not taking my purse!!! :D
  • I'll join in if that's ok. We have our milk delivered and DD and DH have just been to Aldi and got some fruit so I'll start from tomorrow.
I work in a bakery in a town centre so am constantly in and out of the shops but I will leave my purse at home as suggested above. Surprisingly that makes me feel really nervous I don't know why probably because I always have something if not cash then my debit card. It will be interesting this week. I normally go shopping on a Tuesday with my mum and then to their house for lunch I'll make an excuse about the shopping bit and take some pea&ham soup from the fridge for lunch.

Well, I did reasonably well so far - have made countless scones and cookies for the next school cake sale - but when I took the boys swimming this morning I did indulge myself and had a coffee (at £1.55). Felt very naughty too. MIL has just been diagnosed with secondary cancer (doesn't sound very promising) so OH went to see her yesterday and has been snowed in - so the thought of a KFC is VERY tempting.

However, I cooked my chickens yesterday, so I'm going to dig around in the freezer and find the odd few yorkshire puddings that spilled out from the bag, along with some mixed veg and parsnips. That should keep the boys quiet - and we have yogurts for pudding.

Tomorrow we'll have (one of the many frozen) chilli and then on Tuesday it will be Pizza (homemade yesterday but not all eaten) which I will serve with home made wedges.

Wednesday will be chicken bits in a white sauce with mixed veg (perhaps in a pie) and Thursday will be shepherds pie. Friday will be chilli again, but this time I'll serve it wrapped and covered with melted cheese. Now, let me write these down before I forget them all!!!

Think that I'll have to do this all the time - now if I can just remember to get it all out of the freezer on time......
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    I did it!!!!!!!!!!! :T

We had the packed lunch and was back in time to put the roast on for tea. I even resisted when dh said we would be driving past a huge sainsburys and did i want to go in!!

    Day 1 - success!!!!! :j
  • I've just realised I have to pay 50p tea money at work tomorrow does that count? I've justput the 50p in my bag and left my purse out.
Also I have done a meal plan for the week but not sure we have enough potatoes I have got a pack of Mr mash in the cupboard so I may use it to bulk out the salmon fishcakes on Tuesday so that may get me by.
OH wants Hunter Wellies for his birthday so I've just made him order them now so I can definately say we have been spend free for the whole week!! He doesn't really get it but hey ho these things make me happy :D
