Ok, think I'm in. Well, have just gone shopping as we're back from a week seeing rellies so had no bread or milk or spread. My veg box is delivered fortnightly on Tuesdays, so apart from that (which I can't cancel) I am pretty sure that I'll have enough for some interesting meals over the next week or so. Will see howI get on and let people know - will just have to make sure it isn't continual chilli all week long as the boys won't eat that!

Did manage to get 2 chickens for £2 each in Asda this morning - so have cooked them and will make them stretch to as many meals as I can.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • I have enough to see me through the month - but will have to do it next month cos car tax, mot and electric bill all due
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Bit worried about running out of squash as DS won't drink water...will have to tell him we are doing a fun experiment to see how long we can make it last. Maybe then he won't fill it half way and throw it down the sink after a couple of gulps .

Perhaps you could pre-mix the squash and keep it in the fridge for him? Put the rest of the squash concentrate out of sight and out of reach. That way YOU control how much is used, and tell him you have done that so he has nice cold squash ready to drink. If he is the only one who drinks it, then you could even let him drink it straight out of the bottle, so no waste - he will only take a few sips and put the rest back. Well, that's the theory, anyway! :p
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

    :money: That's a good deal!

Welcome Butterfly, I feel your pain I have had insurance and MOT withing two weeks of each other this month, and AA membership. And the deposit for my wedding dress  no wonder I'm skint now :rotfl:

Just ate an apple and it was a bit soft but at least it's kept the hunger at bay for now!

Apart from saving money I could do with making some room in my kitchen cupboards too :o

So, I have noticed that my iron grip on the domestic budget has slipped a little this month for various reasons.

So, I have decided to try and keep us out of the overdraft - it's free but it's the principle of it - by using up what is in the cupboards for the next seven days rather than going out and buying more food stuff.

We have got cereal in the cupboard and the milkman delivers our milk, so breaskfast is sorted. I have got stuff in the cupboard for making bread too. Bit worried about running out of squash as DS won't drink water...will have to tell him we are doing a fun experiment to see how long we can make it last. Maybe then he won't fill it half way and throw it down the sink after a couple of gulps .

Anyone care to join me? x

ooohhh me, me, me I will join! I have gone over budget this month buying bargains!! All my cupboards are full as is the fridge and freezer. I have loads of fruit and an absolute ton of veg!!

I will need to buy milk around Wednesday or Thursday but that is it for me for the week!!!

I will be leaving my purse behind on the school run so cant just pop into any shops!!! :rotfl:

Welcome nuttybabe! Lol buying bargains, my mum says something is only a bargain if you actually needed it in the first place..totally different logic there to my own, methinks ;-)

I have spied some sorry looking carrots in the bottom of the fridge, and I have got some tomatoes and sour cream that need using, I think I will try and find a recipe for vegetable curry tonight. Will post if i make something that's worthwhile. x

I'm in - this was my plan for the week anyway since it is pay day on Friday. The only thing for me is lunch at work but that is only a £1 max per day so hopefully you will let me off on that! My main reason is to make some room in the freezer and cupboards.

I was gifted a breadmaker this week on freecycle so will be having a go at making some bread tomorrow.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
