do you have a pork joint or gammon? i'd recommend putting them in the slow cooker, put the pork on top and cook on low all day mmmmmmm0 -
I made a Pork Casserole last night, used some in that, it was delicious! Had another idea, rice pudding and make a Mullerice type dessert for packed lunchesLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0

I took a pack of mince out of my overflowing freezer over the weekend, intending to use it up in two meals. When I started cooking last night, though, I found I just couldn't bring myself to do it - I couldn't use an entire half pack of mince for just one meal. I ended up bulking it out with lentils and vegetables so I had enough for three portions, two of which are now back in the freezer.
I also made a big pan of soup to have for lunches this week - now the work microwave has died and I've got no way to heat up my soup, so that will have to go in the freezer too.
All in all, I'm pretty much back where I started - with a freezer full of food. This just isn't going according to plan! :rotfl:
Back after a very long break!0 -
CCP - A thermos flask seems a useful way for having your soup for lunch at work. If you have a stick blender, whizz it into a purree so that it will pour through the narrow flask entrance, unless you have a wide necked flask. If it's boiling when you pour it in it should still be hot at lunchtime.0

Good thinking! I don't currently have a thermos flask but it seems like a useful sort of thing to have - I'm just heading out to visit the bank, so I'll pop into the Wilkinsons branch next door and see if they've got a cheapish one for sale.
Thanks for the suggestion - brilliant idea! :beer:Back after a very long break!0 -
I am trying to take things out of my freezer instead of it constantly being rammed full. yesterday managed to take out some chicken stock, and some sauce (which had gone ganky - it had butter in it and was a gravy type sauce - would the butter make it all yuck?) . So there was three containers of sauce. Putting in cooked chicken and ham though but I still seem to have made a good dent, so i can now open it without it all squishing down.A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Have just eaten the last portion of turkey bol made with last year's left over Christmas Turkey... On a mission this week as got to clear some space for the buffet food i've got to buy thurs/fri for cooking sat. So lunches this week are going to include Mac & Cheese and Spag Bol - Tues Dinner is Turkey meatballs from the freezer and Wed is Roast Chicken. Apart from that I think a good tidy up will have to do! Fingers crossed!Mortgage Free x 1 03.11.2012 - House rented out Feb 2016

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Nothing as blood thirsty as that! It is a shepherds pie recipe with baked beans that I got out of Runners Magazine and the name seems to have stuck.
Thank you all for your good wishes and finger crossing about my job. I found out this morning that I have kept my job which is a relief.:T DH is taking me out for a happy hour pizza to celebrate so no cooking for me
I didn't manage to get as much cooking done on Sunday as planned. After driving home from my Mum's the bump had me worn out and I only managed 3 quiches, an apple pie and started the mincemeat. I am away with work for 2 days so will have to catch up when I get back.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

I think I need to join in with this, we have cupboards full of stuff - yet I get there's nothing in all the time.
I think I will do an inventory of store and freezer to get it all down, this will also help my grocery challenge for November.0 -
I'm not doing so bad a reducing the storecupboard...
But the freezer is a different story...
Out of the freezer...
Today, I will be taking out some soup for 'Ron, at work.
And some fish for tea
Into the freezer
Some baked pumpkin, that I have made into a solid pack type thing, similar to the America canned pumpkin.
Also going in, will be the pumpkin stock, to use in either soup, or risotto :rolleyes:0
