Tori.k, have you used your Guinea fowl yet?
Hi Taplady, hash browns and waffles make such tasty (if naughty!) toppings. I have been guilty in the past of adding a packet of crushed up crisps to the top of a pie or bake. Oh, and sprinkling cheese on....!Sometimes, I can't see the wood for the trees - or the couscous for the quinoa... 3 no spends so far for August 2011!0 -
well last night we had mince and tatties ( they were very tatty:rotfl:)
and tonight we had sausages and mash
only have 2 grotty potatoes left now.....but DS said he never wants to eat potato again....so what can I do with them to use them up?:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -

We regularly have this problem! :rotfl:"Freezer dip surprise" is what we call dinner at least once a week, because we gave up writing what we thought we were having on the meal planner and then getting a shock when we defrosted it... (Yes, I know we could label the stuff when we freeze it, but we need to have a little excitement in our lives!!
). Luckily, we are very easy-going eaters, so have no objections to eating sweet and sour chicken or chilli con carne on pasta (because we thought it was a pasta sauce and had already started cooking pasta as an accompaniment!).
Piglet
We love chilli and pasta and actually prefer it to Bolognaise!0 -
Jinky, 2 freezers? You lucky thing! Ooh, the bargains I could fill them with!
CCP, e-kick? LOL:rotfl:
Good luck going through what you’ve got. It’s real soup weather here too – rainy and windy. I’ve just had my first bowl of my spicy carrot soup and it was lovely. Really warmed me up.
nopot2pin, sounds like you’re making inroads. The beetroot and orange relish sounds scrummy!
Aw, Molly, banshee or not, your daughter is just beautiful! 3 A4 pages is pretty impressive and hopefully it’s stuff that will keep you going a while. Your dinner sounds lovely – I love champ – yummy.
Sorry lynzpower, I’m pretty useless. I should have an L plate as my avatar lol! But I’m sure others will have suggestions.
Aha, haribojunkie (that could so easily have been my name!) is already there with a great idea and I love the sound of those flatbreads – thanks!:T
Hi VickyA, I’m moving house soon too which is part of the reason I don’t want huge stores – good luck using yours up
Another great recipe SanFran, thanks a mill! But I have to be honest I just had a daydream of a crisp and salad cream sarny.
And taterduck, thanks for that dessert idea, sounds gorgeous – I love that kind of thing and will definitely give it a whirl. Just hope I don’t like it too much, lol!:p
Thanks torik, am still feeling feverish but the bath helped my aches and my soup was comforting so I’m grand really. Am dying to know what your mystery freezer stuff is! Piglet6, - “freezer dip surprise” – I love it!:D
Hi Triggles (what a cute name!), you’re so lucky our OH works in Sainsbury’s – I’d be in heaven with that discount! But would need at least another 2 freezers I’m sure!
Samantha – I tend to ignore dates and especially with tinned/jarred stuff. I generally go by the look and smell and I haven’t had any problems yet. Lots of lovely sauces – I adore hoi sin, yummy.
Hi Beki, that’s a lot of pork! £15 - £20 sounds ok to me but I’m sure someone else will know better as I don’t know what prices of “the basics” are like in the UK (mind you, they can’t be dearer than here in Dublin, lol! How many are you feeding?
Thanks so much remmie – I can’t claim credit though! I got my inspiration from others like Weezl. Glad to have helped you decide to do it though – won’t it be great to save a bit! I forgot to mention that I have ridiculous amounts of toiletries stashed thanks to Boots BOGOFs, plenty of loo roll and tonnes of cleaning stuff). My stockpiling instincts know no barriers!
HI candygirl, you’ve got plenty there! I think it would take me a fair while to use that lot up. Lucky you getting a nice new kitchen, that’ll be lovely. Mind you if I had a nice new kitchen I’d probably do a big shop to fill up my nice new cupboards!
I love cheese and potato pie taplady, how do you make yours? I think I might do that next week.I used some suspicious mushrooms from the fridgeTrying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

I ate the hash browns and croquettes as a side to the pie and it was yummy.
The way I make mine is to line a dish with pastry(I use small individual ones and freeze them as I dont eat meat so they are just for me) and bake them for a few mins then I fry onions and mushrooms add to the pastry case and top it with cheesy mash and the slice a tomato on the top and a bit of grated cheese and bake in the oven for about 30 mins.
Yummy!:DDo what you love :happyhear0
