There'll be atleast one pub close by that will give you cash from a credit card. I've got two within walking distance :o
WHAT!? Doesn't that cost them more money though? As most pay a %.

Although, thinking about it I can see the advantage....typically if they get over £X of transactions then the fees/charges drop, so if they essentially start giving cashback then they are saving their banking costs (and some time) and could be getting themselves over the threshold for a reduction....

Wish I found one round here that would!! And obviously wish I had big limits!

Lol it's simply a matter of buying two pints, handing over your card, them saying "you have to spend £10" and me saying "Can you round it up to £xx so I don't have to give you my card again tonight"... and they do... as a purchase... and don't care what type of card I hand over.

    Simples :o
    Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Haha, so rather than giving you a "tab" or something you say round it to £20 or whatever and they just give you the cash (which I suppose is easier). That's quality haha, I've gotta try that somewhere! :D
  • Hi all,

I noticed FirstDirect are being mentioned quite alot on here, any particular reason why?
I like how they give you credit on your history with the bank, rather then your credit history (if you fail the credit check).
Has anyone had experience of this bank history check leading to a positive result? If so sounds like their underwriters take more into account when you apply than most other lenders.

Finally I have seen the Three Sim Zero account mentioned a few times, what exactly is this? And does it help improve credit ratings? If so is it hard to get?

    Thanks

I've got this. Yes it improves your rating as you get "0's" for paying each month (even if you don't spend anything) although you probably need to send a text to activate the account, pay the 10p on time and then leave it. You basically have conducted the account correctly even if you never use it again, so you carry on getting 0's and so that builds on your history of making payments on time etc. I don't know if it's easy to get, but I got it, and most places seem to hate me, so I'd say it is :p

First Direct, like all HSBC products, are assessed using BOTH your external credit data and internal behaviour scores. So say you bank with them and then after a few months want an overdraft or credit card, the first thing they do is look at behaviour score which says whether you're eligible to apply. If so, they run an application which includes a CRA check and score. If you fail this they can override it using behavioural scores but only if you just miss the pass score - they will always search you regardless of what you apply for.....

    See this: First Direct

I'm excited I may get something from Il Banco De Cyprio today. Looks like my £10 has gone into the correct account otherwise I would have been called. Wouldn't I?

I applied at the weekend to upgrade my Northern Bank basic account so should hear back about that in the next day or two, I really just want a full Visa Debit card. My Maestro card is nice and all but looks rather unappealing and is unembossed. Also, some sites have stopped accepting Maestro.
