With the Halifax you get charged £1 a day for an AUTHORISED overdraft up to £2500 then £2  a day from £2500 to £5000 !!!!!:eek::eek:

God only knows what the fees are for an unauthorised one. I stay within my limit.

£5 a day for unauthorised overdrafts. There's no upper cap for the fees.

So on average, it'll cost £150 a month for being unauthorised. It's shocking that they can get away with this.

I have gone from paying about £5 a month in interest for my o/d to up to £40

And if i used my full overdraft all the time then it could be £60 odd a month in fees. Obviously i try and get my bills done asap. The joys of self employment.

The Halifax say their customers wanted their fees simplifying.....BOL*OCKS!!!!!

I've got a reason for my instant decline to Natwest...

"We note from our records that you are an existing account holder with us. However, because we have a policy of limiting the number of cards we issue to each customer, we are not able to proceed with your latest application". If I wish to talk to them about this call 0870 something, so might call and see if they'll do a swap from my student card to a main one..... I doubt it, but can't see why Barclaycard will let you have a card if you get 10k and Natwest won't

I would of thought borrowing say £2300.00 form your bank for 5 days at a cost of £5.00 is great value.

O/D are designed for short term borrowing, If people are looking for long term borrowing then surely a loan would be better?

Ive been experimenting (lol I have really)...

I took out £450 from my second HSBC account and pay in £100 per month, then withdraw it a day or so later. So at outset I went £450 o/d and over the year have paid in £100 per month - taken out the following day again (on month 10 right now).

I am being charged less than £6 per month for this. So to stay permanently £450 overdrawn for 10 months has cost me the grand total of £60.

That's not too bad really, in todays market!
