Ahh, now not wanting to confuse you this is where a little of Synectics Solutions falls into play lol.

Basically, a fraudulent application would not flag you at N Hunter, more the applicant at the time. It also picks up wrong numbers so if I applied using your data and never knew your work number, this would just tell the lender to auto-decline. :D

It is not for N Hunter to stop fraud mate. That is the role of CIFAS and the CRA's funnily enough lol :rotfl:

Okay. :rotfl: I'm gonna back up out of this conversation because it's getting confusing! Either way, both companies are dirty robbing b@stards for making us pay to access our own information.

My address is for example:

Flat 6
7 Low Street
etc
etc

I obviously didnt change the Low Street bit so they searched me on this:

Flat 6
1 Low Street
etc
etc

So now they have sent a rejection letter, AND linked me to that address!

Right so it was a typo made on the original application then yea?

So just to confirm, if you didn't SAR them you would never know?

LOL. I know they are different, but I'm with Elky, although they are different - I treat them as basically the same. They are there to try and stop people lying and basically stop fraud . I.e. some people treat 6th form/college/university as the same thing, technically they aren't (have to pay to be at uni! and obviously the age & education level differences) but they are all places that educate you post-16, after compulsory education ends.

Well on some things you would, it depends if it is witheld from your credit file or not!

They are kinda "related" but one specifically works with the lender and one works with the CRA's.....

CIFAS:
CIFAS is a not-for-profit membership association dedicated to the prevention of financial crime and staff fraud. CIFAS provides a range of fraud prevention services to its Members, including fraud avoidance systems used by the UK's financial services companies, other organisations and public authorities.

National Hunter:
N HUNTER Limited is an independent not-for-profit company and is solely concerned with the prevention of application fraud within the Banking and Finance community.

What is Application Fraud?
Applicationspacer.gif fraud is when an individual or group of individuals apply for financial services and knowingly misrepresents facts within their application. Some examples are given below:

bp.gifAn applicant impersonates another person after obtaining personal information about them and applies in their name.

Going on the above (before someone picks up on my deliberate mistake - lol yea right) this would result in N Hunter system telling the lender to advise CIFAS of such occurrences - N Hunter themselves cannot add a CIFAS marker. :D
