CIFAS, N Hunter.. meh, all the same in my eyes. Both organisations are there to prevent fraud. :j
No mate - they are totally different, lol - you're winding me up right? lol !
One prevents fraud the other assists the Lenders (first and foremost) and the CRA's with inconsistencies to applications.2010 - year of the troll

You know i'm getting at here don't you - basically you need to contact the CRA and explain to them that the search should stay but be merged into the correct address format - explain that it is slighly different and as such created a link which is wrong.
they will fix it - simples. It will be evident when they see it, won't it?
It can be obvious when there are errors you know, a lender doesn't just add cifas for no reason - they need to be pretty much 99% sure before they add a marker cos it is libellous data and if they are incorrect and you pursue it you can sue for £5k (libel maximum in small claims).
I did call them, and they did another search on the correct address, however I wont see the original search at wrong address as it does not form part of my address history?!0 -
I assumed chopping and changing between student and unemployed in between applications would trigger something.
I assumed it would be like selecting 'married' on an application on 5th, then 'single' on another app on 6th. Or working for x then moving to y company 5 hours later.
You're either a student or your not, can't be both. Well, technically you can be an unemployed student but they don't usually allow multiple choices on an application. :Pnever-in-doubt wrote: »All the above is N Hunter, let me explain:
I am a student but also work, part time in the college term dates and full time in winter. Therefore which would be true? All 3 are viable options - fraud is not conclusive.
I was married, well still am but wating on my divorce. I spoke to a mate and he says to technically say I am married, but when I applied to barclays they only allowed me to pick married or single so I chose married but my HSBC let me chose separated/divorced so I selected that option. Therefore which would be true? All are viable options - fraud is not conclusive.
The above would all be N Hunter flags, not CIFAS!
I trust this is getting through mate lol0 -

Who did you call and who searched you? I said (quite clearly) to call the CRA - NOT the lender! The CRA need to merge addresses, not the lender - they cannot do this, they can add or remove an entry - you're not disputing the validity of the entry, more the address format which is the remit of the CRA!
The search will come back when the CRA's sort things at their end.2010 - year of the troll

Yeah but N Hunter is used to detect inconsistencies on fraudulent [and genuine] applications is it not?
If someone steals some of my details and applies for credit and N Hunter detects the inconsistency of the current and previous applications.. and notifies the lender, then I'd say they've just prevented fraud from happening. We’ve had to remove your signature. I did call the CRA, she advised me to contact the lender...0 -

Ahh, now not wanting to confuse you this is where a little of Synectics Solutions falls into play lol.
Basically, a fraudulent application would not flag you at N Hunter, more the applicant at the time. It also picks up wrong numbers so if I applied using your data and never knew your work number, this would just tell the lender to auto-decline.
It is not for N Hunter to stop fraud mate. That is the role of CIFAS and the CRA's funnily enough lol :rotfl:2010 - year of the troll

never-in-doubt wrote: »Because I am not daft and I SAR CIFAS/N Hunter each year - religiously and will continue to do so! For £20 a year it is cash well spent IMO.
Get into that habit as well.
Cap1 will go to £200, we both know that lol.
As for student unemployed this is N Hunter and nothing to do with CIFAS! But N Hunter would also pick up the fact that you have a student account (remember N Hunter is linked to Experian) and at that point they would not flag you cos they would know you are / were / is a student!
BUT what lenders usually tell students is to stay at your parents and use that as the main address to keep things tidy, most students move around that much it is not going to help their credit files long term is it?
So if you have a funny uni address or apply in uni and then apply when at home, stop it! Stick to either applying at home or at uni. Simples.
You guys make something out of nothing lol.... everything is beatable, if you want to know how to get out of paying then i'll tell you but it won't go down too well.... :rotfl:
Haha, yea I know it'll go to £200, but if it didn't, or my other limits get taken off me, then it indicates something is wrong in a monthly update
So it's only really the switch between Unemployed/Part Time/Full-Time that could be flagged? Because there is no way to verify that, where they can verify I have a Student Account
Yea I stick with Home because I have mail forwarding, I did this to not trash my credit file. What difference will uni putting me on the electoral roll here make to all that?
Haha, how do I get a free one?Why won't it go down to well? I want to see but don't want to waste a tenner, especially if there is nothing on there!

One prevents fraud the other assists the Lenders (first and foremost) and the CRA's with inconsistencies to applications.. I.e. some people treat 6th form/college/university as the same thing, technically they aren't (have to pay to be at uni! and obviously the age & education level differences) but they are all places that educate you post-16, after compulsory education ends.

My address is for example:
Flat 6
7 Low Street
etc
etc
I obviously didnt change the Low Street bit so they searched me on this:
Flat 6
1 Low Street
etc
etc
So now they have sent a rejection letter, AND linked me to that address!0
