Thanks :) Will try another bank after Christmas now I think. Do you know how long other banks usually take to upgrade your account providing you keep your account in credit etc ?

My theory is that anyone else who has struggled getting mainstream credit will know that you are in exactly the same boat as them so have a vanquis card ....

By anyone if you mean shop assistanats etc, they do not look at who isued the card. I worked in retail for years and if anyone had asked me what type of card a customer had I would not have been able to say apart form a credit card lol People pay even less attention now since chip and pin.
