Yeaa I was told about their potential money problems the other day, that's a shame. Please batter Forest Green for me, their win at ours was pretty smash and grab

Just rang Capital One again! And they tell me I've been accepted for the card it's £200 limit which isn't great, but really, really pleased. Hopefully that'll go up on my 4th statement!

It's my first credit card, in a while!!
Well done :). Which card is it? If it's the classic it will if you buy something within 3 months and pay all the statements on time. £200 only goes up to £500 though. It seems fixed. And you'll only ever get 1 increase (the 4th statement one), after that it's "random" which people say never seems to happen. So I'm on £100 at the moment and it'll only go up to £200 next month then nothing ever

Odd - my second Vodafone bill came through and it says I owe £0.00 and it is due on the 26th Jan.
Strange. I haven't had a bill from 3 in ages, but then I only spent 10p first month. Better log in online to check that's still going ok actually!

well done my limit at £200 now was £100 had it since may
  • What do you think the best I could get would be, assuming I had no searches in the 6 months before an application. Maybe not 1 product, but generally? 0% would be nice, but I can't see that happening. One with a decent limit wouldn't really affect me because I have to pay it all back in full, and interest on something like £200 is pretty poor. Not maxing cards out would be useful so I won't look desperate - haven't maxed out my Natwest this month.

I'm on about £275 of the £350 :), but my Crappy1 is on £98.32 out of £100 I believe! :(

I think you may need a job before you get the best deals so what i'd be doing is using this time to build a history and when you're out of student status you'll get better offers based on the small debt to income ratio coupled with the minimal searches and positive green [0]'s mate :D:D

That's what i'd be doing anyway -
    :o 2010 - year of the troll :o

Haha, so right now I've probably got the best I can get? Found out the England card gives 15% off on their official store. That, combined with a sale, would bring their prices well below others

I should be getting 8 green 0's a month at the moment (2 from Natwest current accounts, 1 from A&L, Natwest Card, o2, Three and JDW). Hopefully Halifax feel like accepting me to make it 9......

Now then all, long time no see. Has anyone tried applying for the Amazon Mastercard? I only ask because I was still getting rejected left and right last year (for example for an Abbey Zero, even the guy in the branch couldn't understand why and it was an instant rejection as well) despite spreading out my applications. However I just decided to try for the hell of it as I do often buy stuff from Amazon, got through the online application and got the "we will be in touch within the next two weeks" which usually means "don't call us, we'll call you" and a rejection. So I was shocked to receive an email the next day accepting me, and just about fell off my chair when a later email arrived saying what my credit limit was going to be - £4900!! I am completely at a loss as to why they've given me that, especially as the card is run by MBNA who have never given me a higher limit than the initial £1500 on my bmi card (the one successful application I had last year). If anything my credit report should be worse now as I had a late payment (by a day due to changing bank accounts and it didn't go through - sodding A&L) for my Vanquis in October so if it worked for me it could for someone else?

Unless you've seen your credit report & it shows it as 1 month late then it almost certainly won't be. I missed by 2 days because o2 tried to charge my card and it didn't work, they put it through as a 0. I think as long as you pay up by the time they update the CRA then it goes through fine, that's what a lot of people say anyway

Well done though, that's a massive limit, and MBNA . Are certain MBNA products scored easier than others then, even though they are all (bar the actual MBNA cards) the same as far as I can tell (England Card, all the club cards, play etc all seem to have the same rate etc)?
