Hi I am normally roaming around here at some point in the day as well for a chat. I moved 180 miles from my home town to be with my husband who is now my soon to be ex husband. It seemed to be easier to make friends during my teens early twenties than it does now (40:eek: )
Where I live now people dont tend to just drop by it is almost rude to. In my home town you would just knock the door. Sitting here thinking it is a friday night I am on a late shift tommorow and the most exiting thing I am doing is sitting on the computer. Makes me feel kinda sad.
    Pm me any time
    Messy.

    Hi whatamess

Don't feel kind of sad (((hugs))) there are lots of us sitting here with our computers on a Friday night. Sorry to here about your soon to be ex - a horrible thing to be going through.

Maybe this will be a thread where we'll just start chatting to each other? At least there are a few of us in this situation :)

I find I get on quite well with people I meet, but I'm totally unsure how to develope any of this into a long term friendship.

I know that alot of it is my inherent shyness and not wanting to impose myself on others. I try quite hard to get over this, but as yet no success.

The other problem is that I am terminally skint, so any activities that involve any spend are exclusive to family entertainment. Nothing left over for just me.

Oh and one final barrier to going out and meeting people is that I just can't invite them back to my place. It's an utter mess. We bought an old run down house in the need of a make-over. Unfortunately we've run out of money and it's nowhere near finished. My kitchen is still sitting in my hall. Waiting for my summer vaction to get on the overalls and take the life of my new work surface in my hands. I'm scared can't afford to replace it if I get it wrong and can't afford a professional to do it for me.

So chat and general support would be welcome. If anyone lives near me I like to bake and play with my senseo machine (cheap from comet via this sites grabbit forum).

Hobbies are reading and posting on this site, using my new BM, avoiding excerise, reading sci-fi/fantasy novels and watching USA dramas.
Love to cook fun and interesting meals, would love to have dinner parties, but don't have any room for a dining table, you can come round and eat of your lap. Does anyone like sushie?:D

Happy for PM emails or posting support

Sounds a bit like me other than the cooking!! When my kids all started saying `I dont like that` I gave up and now rarely cook anything exciting.
One problem with meeting up we are a few hundred miles away from each other:rotfl:
Work top is easy measure once mark out then measure again. Have a good saw and use masking tape on the saw line to prevent chipping the surface. Messy

Hey whatamess,:grouphug: :grouphug: right back at you.
Sometimes there is a need to away from them for a while to get yourself on an even keel.
I've been there, left with nothing and lacking confidence in myself. It took me a fair while to get myself back together, but I'm here and happy and with a new OH. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Talk to the people you know on here.

I've been lonely now for many years, and don't ever envisage not being. I've become so used to it, and I hate myself, but I know people around here make friends, so have you made any here wannabe? PM them for any advice?

You have lots of offers I see :) I would offer, but i'm not a girl, but if you need a mans 'help' and there is no-one else, I'm a PM away :)

Whoo! Whatamess can you PM me a picture?
I spent a year in the states while at UNI and shaved all my hair of from my ears all the way round. I liked it, but when I had it in a pony tail men would suggest that I was possibly a dyke. Rednecks

Bet you've got great cheekbones so can really pull it of. I just looked like a man.:D

With make up on it looks good I like it, with out make in my work clothes look more like i am going through cancer treatment (am very thin). Have had the dyke response as well. Hey if they dont like it dont look. If we all looked the same what a boring place this would be.
