Have joined a new local forum, that has allowed me to make some contacts where I live and it's been great. Have been to at least four Meet-ups in the past 4 months and have visited at least three of the members for a chat and a coffee. So I've made friends Yee hah.
Well done zombiecazz (and on the eggs and presents too!). So glad you've made some friends. :T Hello to everyone else too!

I had to give up work just before Christmas because of health problems - I'm in pain all the time (from my knees upwards, including my bottom and back - which gets worse if I spend more than a couple of hours in a sitting position or lying down or if I walk to the shops). I'm awaiting a hospital appointment for tests - my GP said it could be a form of arthritis or spondylitis. So my January blues are made worse by the big change in giving up my job and independence. Plus being unable to work and not having an income (although luckily my partner works) and being at home all day and worrying if I'm going to end up very disabled. I hope you folks don't mind me getting things off my chest - I've stopped now!

This is a great thread (although I haven't been able to read it all). Its amazing how many lonely people there are, isn't it? The less confident or shy amongst us don't find it easy to make friends, but are loath to admit it in case people think it's because we're dull or boring people, but I think it's just a symptom of the less sociable world we live in nowadays - especially in the UK. I've lost count of the number of foreigners (at work, mostly) who've complained to me that they find it difficult to make friends with British people. To outsiders we're so reserved - and don't feel able to say more than a word or two to a stranger (and then maybe only when compelled to do so - for eg, when there's a crisis or when a train has been delayed, yet again.). Some of us may not be very good at making the "right moves" initially or know how to keep things going after a good start, but this site (and this thread) shows that (underneath) we are friendly people.

zombiecazz, I wonder if you've got any tips on how to find local forums to meet up with? Or has anyone else any ideas? The support on this site is invaluable - I love it - but it'd certainly do me (and a few others) a lot of good to get out a bit too!

No tips I'm afraid. I think you just have to put yourself out there and give some things a go. Don't get disappointed when it doesn't work out. The local forum I found was through someone on our local freecycle. When she heard that I wanted stuff for my chickens she suggested I have a look at the forum and it went from there.
I did join a local art group, as I wanted to get back into painting again, but found that it was not right for me.

So proud pf you CC it must be an obsolute nightmare giving up - you go girl don't give in.
    How are we all?
Still not gone out THERE and found friends despite all the promises to myself just find that I am having a serious bout of Jan blues and want to be a couch potato!!! How about the rest of you?

Thought this might give some of you a giggle
A nice, calm and respectable woman went into a pharmacy, looked the pharmacist straight in his eyes & said, "I would like to buy some cyanide."
The pharmacist asked, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?"
The woman replied, "I need it to poison my husband."
The pharmacist's eyes got big and he exclaimed, "Lord, have mercy! I can't give you cyanide to kill your husband! That's against the law! My license! They'll throw both of us in jail! All kinds of bad things will happen! No! You CANNOT have any cyanide!"

The woman reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife.

The pharmacist looked at the picture and replied, "Well, now, that's different. You didn't tell me you had a prescription."

    Take care and big hugs

Wannubs....now your joke has given me an idea....! Getting out THERE is tough you can come here if you would like. We can drag anyone else close enough too, Messy will HAVE to come. Or we could meet up somewhere else. Hope school is OK, January is nearly over and Spring is on its way.

    Love to all,

    Teehee nice joke :D

I just spent an hour up and down the stairs to the bin sheds. Just chucked 8 black sacks of "tat", or stuff that is so cheap i can replace when i start again in a year or so. My arms feel like someone snapped the muscles lol

However, normally up the 2 flights of stairs once would have me out of breath and i am not breathless at all. :D first plus i've noticed from no cigs

  • Like the joke.
I hate moving. We still haven't unpacked all our tat and we moved over a year and a half ago.
Have a busy day baking and cooking it's great.
Anyone fancy some apple brownies or some Irish soda bread or maybe even some Butternut squash and coconut soup?
