    Hello people!

Another friendless one here, added to the thread. And so many things I would have said, already said by others :p

Well - where do you find new friends, when everyone seems to either be a couple, or has a steady social circle, or their idea of fun, is not your idea?

So - any MSNers, Yahoo messenger peeps?

    Who else is in Scotland?
    Feel free to PM.
  • Hi Lil!
Messy my poor love! Massive hugs from me, sorry to hear that work is hard...you have enough to deal with without staff being a pain. Well done for avoiding the confrontation, I am sure you will sort it out. Get those boys to help you do the house....I will come over and chase them around with my dressage whip if you like.
I had a massive row with OH. I have spent hours working and doing all the house jobs but seem to be getting through it. Being observed this week by the head...might put it off as I feel so ill and after such a bad weekend not sure i can cope.
All the best to all and fight the good fight and all that!

hi lil2002, i'm also from Scotland. Have found everyone on this thread to be very welcoming and helpful. I'm like you have found i difficult to make new friends as everyone seems to have there own close social circle. My friends seemed to drift away when i bought my house and i couldnt really afford to go out all the time aymore but i have recently got in touch with one of my friends from school and met up with her, which went well. Do you have any old friends you could phone and arrange a catch up?

    Thanks lilminx.
There are still people from school around, but we really don't have a lot in common. Conversations seem to drag, if you know what I mean.
I've moved around a lot, and have friends I stay in touch with, just nobody local to hang out with.
But that's going to change with this thread - right? :rotfl:

Yeah its a good way to off load and its nice that everyone is so helpfl in offering advice. Well hopefully this year things will change for both of us i'm determained to make new friends.
  • Ahh the Scots are taking over the world!!! Or this thread anyway it seems. I am Scottish too by the way but seem to be in the minority as I am a MAN - 'oh no nothing but trouble' I hear them all say. But if any of you want a male perspective then feel free to PM, MSN me!!

Had a relatively good weekend. Had a lass across to my home town and was giving her a grand tour (she was new to the area) so that is a potential friendship there - seemed to get along ok.

Looking for a bit of advice though. How many on this board live alone or have made a move to live alone. I still live with parents but am seriously considering looking to rent somewhere (would be closer to work too which would save 2 hours travel a day) probably alone as could not share with anyone I did not get on with. Has anyone been in this situation?

It would be a new town but close enough to get back to home town easily. Just wondering whether it would be beneficial for making more friends - it would be a bigger town and all. Might be a real kick up the !!!! I need. But then I would still suffer from the low confidence, self esteem and shyness. Maybe living alone would force me to get out of that, or perhaps have the opposite effect?

    Hope everyone else is well.

I've lived alone for 7 years. When i first moved out of parents i bought a flat in a new town and didnt really make any new friends there but it was close enough that i saw my old ones all the time.

2 years ago i moved again (now rent) and i have made loads of new friends purely by speaking to my neighbour. Went out with her a few times, met her friends, they are all my friends too now :)

It easier to make new friends i think as you have an excuse to strike up conversation...i'm new to the area could you tell me where?.....doctors? local library? best pub? is if someone is nice enough they will offer a hand of friendship.

  • I've just found this by searching for chat and advice...

Add me to your list, I'm just sooo fed up of everything at the mo I just have no idea where I'm going. I'm probably taking everything going in a bad way but I just keep trying to make things better and am probably making them worse...

I've totally got January blues. I am seeing a counsellor on Friday but I'm just stewing.
