Especially as its in the middle of Ramadan! We had an email reminding us that the Muslim children may be lightheaded etc - followed by the list of 12 muslim children in our school of 1700! Oh and I know that of those 12 there are 4 of them observing Ramadan. The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0 -

Thats the sad thing about our country though, we are scared to say anything incase we offend or incase its not "PC" - when in other countries such as middle east, can burn our flags and even in london, chant certain things and "death to brittian" yet were scared incase we offend? (i dont care about being PC - i say what i feel, and what i feel is what i say)
This is a christian country so we should be allowed to celebrate what ever we want and put up xmas decs if we wish, no matter if putting up a christmas tree offends other people or not (after all, these people celebrate things in OUR country and we dont get offended....)
whoa, i say alot lol - anyway (if i offend ppl by not being PC then they should explain to me why i have and i will explain why i think i have not)

CC - what happned? were ya a little over the limit lol? hope you didnt have much in it! and i hope you remembered to cancle all cards.

been a strange week for me - i thought i had diabetis, but i was given the all clear but after test after test with psych, i was diagnosed with having Asbergers Syndrome. Oh yeh, and i was branded a "twit" by CG aswell!Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
Luckily i didnt take any cards out with me. not that i have any money in the bank anyway. It had about £50 in it. I wouldnt normally take ALL my money with me but was in london and wanted it in case of an emergency. Card would have been of no use to me. It was all of money for the week. I get paid on friday.
The purse is definitely lost, called the bar i was in and the car firm that brought my friends and i home but no joy.
Was really really down. The girls popped over this afternoon and caught me sobbing til i saw they had brought a big bag of groceries for me and some flowers.
Someone on here pm'd me with a beautiful offer of help too. I havent accepted but its a reminder that life IS worth living when there are people like that in the world.Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
CC so sorry to hear about your purse. I have had mine taken a few times it is infuriating particularly when you need every penny. Wish I could help. Pull that strength up from deep inside yourself and take it a step at a time. We are all here for you. Massive hug from me.
As for harvest we are celebrating it as it is a pagan celebration. It is just part of the religious calendar and it is vital that we teach our children to be thankful for what they have and give to those who don't. We will be collecting for a local young homeless project and for some memorial for a child who has died in the last month from asthma.
The school has a high proportion of Muslem pupils and they will be taking part. The parents will come to see too. As for all this trash about being PC I can tell you that having discussed this at length with many ofmy Muslem friends and colleages, they have no qualms about any religious celebration. Jesus is an important prophet to Muslems and they totally relate to celebrating for example Christmas and Easter. It is amusing that last year the city council in their ignorance asked the city children to design the Christmas lights for the city centre. The artist was told that the lights were to be pictures of celebration. When the lights were revealed there was upraor because they were not Christmassy enough. There was no reference to any religious celebration Eid, Hanukkah, Diwali nor Christmas. Everyone was unhappy. On the contrary in school we celebrate and learn about all the festivals. None of the Muslems ever complain. Ramadan starts this weekend and it is a wonderful time for the Muslems. It fascinates me. Some of the children fast and are so proud to be allowed to do so. We discourage the little ones in the week but some families take them home to fast at lunchtime. It is so much easier in the winter as the day is short.
Sorry to waffle on it is just interesting to me.
Hope the match was good Mc!
Hope everyone else is well.

I see no reason why the muslems shouldn't celebrate the harvest festival, its part of the rich tapestry of life in Britain. Just seems a little insensitive to have it when they are hungry!
Mind you our Muslem deputy head seems to end up doing an awful lot of lunch duties! I always feel sorry for him.The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0 -
