Hi Mclaren ~ I went in February and when we arrived there was snow on the ground. The next morning it was t-shirt weather and all the snow had gone! We did manage to walk a little way through Central Park but its absolutely huge. I sat in Strawberry Fields ~ the garden named in honour of John Lennon. Its incredibly peaceful considering that New York is constantly noisy.
I am hoping to visit the Everglades, I'd like to go down to the Keys too. I've never been to Orlando but then I'm not really a fan of theme parks ~ both my children have been to Disneyworld with their StepGranny and had a blast. There are so many other places I still have yet to visit so Florida might be a little low down on the list
Quiet on here at the moment ~ where has everyone gone?
Hugs,

  Scrapping my car!! nooooooooooooooooo...... it's only five years old and I love it! Thanks for the moneysaving suggestion though!
I was just a little overwrought the other night, I'm sure you lovely people understand when everything just piles up and you can't deal with anything, no matter how trivial it is.
My darling Yaris goes in for the MOT tomorrow afternoon, so fingers crossed and positive vibes that she sails through. The garage man said that there is about a 50/50 chance that none of the work will need done this year.. so here's hoping.
messy - thanks for the encouragement. The OH is in the bath, and spendaholics is a repeat, so am going to try and get the first few hundred words down - I always find it gets easier after that.
cg - the cottage sounds amazing, I'm sure you will all be very happy there. Unpacking boxes is such an adventure! I love finding things I didn't even know I had lost! Hope you had a nice supper today. I am going to put the car on the overdraft for now, it shouldn't be too bad, and I should be able to pay it off once I get my wages in October, and some freelancing fees I am due. It's all about the cashflow. I am also going to look at getting a graduate account with an interest free overdraft! Thanks for the hugs - you guys are all amazing, don't know what I would do without you xx :grouphug:
hope everyone else is well .. I am going to tackle the intro paragraph and will update you before I go to bed - this should help to make me do it, rather than browsing MSE!

Right. I have changed my signature to reflect amount of work done on my dissertation My target is roughly 12,000. Have made a good start - hoping that the total will rocket tomorrow after an early night and some serious thinking. (while sleeping of course)
Feel free to berate me for my poor progress if you don't see the word count increasing. I am going to post here at the end of every day with an update.

Morning all
been reading and there is just so much going on! DJ - hope the car is OK the Japs usually build quality cars so fingers crossed.
CG glad the cottage is going well and Nick is about to get such a deluxe suite!
Mum and I looked at a nice house yesterday, considering moving in together and annexing part for her, don't think that was the one though although it was a very good price and they are desperate to sell so would take an offer, which we could make in cash.
OH has been better the past few days - only grumpyness is because his foot hurts and the doctor says its gout! Not surprised the drink is catching up with him. He is coming the weekend, been told that he has to behave and that I will make sure he sees the West Ham match if he doesn't make me miserable and doesn't moan about my laptop. Will be nice to have someone to eat dinner with and someone to watch the bands with:rolleyes:
GCSE results are out today and I'm dreading it, I saw mine online yesterday and for the first time my coursework has all been marked down - means all my kids have dropped at least 1 grade - pushing loads of them down to D's and there is not a single A on the course. I am devastated and dreading facing all those who have ended up with D's - I cried buckets over this yesterdaybut I'm not going to be a coward and avoid the kids.
Off tomorrow so don't know if I'll be in. Have a great weekend all:jThe best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0 -
My DS gets his GCSE results today and I am so nervous for him. He was so confident when he'd finished that I hope he hasn't been overly confident
He's arranged to meet up with his g/f and his friend ~ they will all go off and pick up their results and then go see Snakes on a Plane!!
He's not going until 11am so I've got hours to wait
Had a lovely bath last night with a Lush bath bomb in it ~ didn't realise it was all glittery until I got out ~ I looked like a 70's disco diva........ took ages to get all the glitter off my face this morning......

Hope the results are good.
What's wrong with being a disco Diva for a day or so.
Doing OK here. Apart from Oh isn't well and it's raining.
Chickens are doing fine. We put up a willow fence (on the one good afternoon we've had) and let the chickens out to roam the garden.
Planning a snail meal for Saturday.
Bean doing lots of baking, made chelsea buns on Tuesday evening and yesterday made a savoury olive, garlic and cheese version of the chelsea bun. mmm!!!
Long busy day today. So Hugs to everyone.

Hello all!
Nearly done now just don't like some of my rooms. It is just about all fitting in other than our well loved vinyl collection. I am not sure where to put them. Forget the cds and the tapes-all vital as i am a music monster. OH rarely needs his music as I do but he has more than me. We need a music room. The dog is getting far too comfortable in the dining room-last thing I want is a wet labrador in my dining room shaking everywhere. I need the extension built now! We had a cat try to move in yesterday and deer in next door's garden eating the roses.
Actually it is lovely being here can understand how obsessed Monet and Constable were with light. I watched the sun change the coulour and feel of the fields yesterday as it moved with the clouds it was amazing. I had a view from the age of 11 to 18 which was amazing but this gives me different feelings. Could be my age or just the view itself. This is so varied. The previous one was of the village and my parents view which I find cold and lonely is of trees. I will post some pics. OH threw his digital camera on the ground by accident and I am not sure if it will work again. I may have to use my phone!!
OH is at UNI using their free internet giving me some space!:T He has yet more interviews coming up. A chap described him as personable today...I wonder whether he will think the same when they do the psycometric test. I hope he gets it really. It is in Plymouth which would mean being close to the sea when I want. He will move there in the week.
ZC glad that the chucks are in the garden- how lovely. Get them eating out of your hand.
MC I think I should come with you to the US. I need a holiday and you might be lonely.
Phillippa hope the results are good.
KP you did your best with those children. You were even generous with the marking compared to the examiners. So loads of love to you and the children will learn to cope with not achieving first time. This is a lesson that I learned early on but my OH didn't learn until recently. To keep trying and demand what you want and to get it through hard work. My student has got a first for her degree. She got straight As for her teaching. So far she hasn't got a job. I am somewhat pleased that she will have to really work at something and be able to cope with the failure feeling for a bit. She will get a job as she is a star.
OH is home no more peace!!
