HATTON GARDEN METALS Feedback Thread

Hello,
Posted some unwanted gold yesterday afternoon and had £298.31 paid into my bank account by 11 am this morning.
Really happy with the result, all I had to pay was postage at about a fiver. I'll not miss the items because to be honest I had forgotten I even had them!
I found this company on this website and would definitely use them again.
Very happy.Weight loss 2017/2018 - 49 lbs0 -
I was pretty wary of sending anything valuable off in a Jiffy bag (!)but I sent HGM an old 18 carat gold ring (I weighed it on the kitchen scales, but it weighed so little I couldn't be sure of its exact weight). I sent it special delivery as HGM recommends, which cost just over £5.
I sent it on Friday and yesterday (Tuesday) I got a cheque for £71.77!
Very impressed! Thanks for all the comments posted on here - there are so many rogue companies offering to buy gold it's great to know there's such a reliable one.0 -
I have used HGM twice now. The first time i sent off roughly gold that was worth £650. they receieved it and then later that day i only had half of that amount go into my bank account. knowing there ways no way i could of weighed the gold wrongly i contacted HGM metal who had made a mistake with the weight. The rest of the ,money was put into my bank account the next day. Simple mistake i thought, they are only human.
I decided to use HGM again this week to sell a ring as they do pay the best prices. They received it yesterday morning, i waited until 5pm the same day as they suggest and nothing had been paid into my account. We exchanged a few emails this morning to find out why i hadnt been paid and it turns out they have lost my parcel, but as i had sent it special delivery and it was signed for by someone at HGM i still got paid the full amount today.
So 2 unsmooth transactions. my recommendation to anyone using HGM it to make sure you do send it special delivery, and that you have a good idea of the weight i your items.0 -
I used this company yesterday after reading the reviews on here and sent off 2 gold rings by special delivery (£5.90) in the afternoon. I weighed them at 6g using kitchen scales and have received an email from them this morning saying they weighed in at 6.10g. I was quoted £69.54 on the website yesterday and they have confirmed I will receive £70.49.
I have had no problems at all and am very happy with the service - it could not have been done any quicker!0 -
I rarely come on here and was not aware that there was a tread on Hatton Garden Metals.
THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE OF THEM
Sent off 2 large curbed gold chains and had to pay for this via special delivery. They weighed about 30 grams in total according to a set of expensive digital scales my father had - he is a retired CNC machinist.
They said the chains where less than 9k gold even through they are hallmarked and worst of all when I got them back in the post there were these stains all over them. Apparently this is due to the acid they used during the testing process.:mad::mad:
Not happy and i can't understand why there are so many positive posts on this thread. Surely the law of averages means that some of their customers would have experiences like mine.

Just used Hatton Garden Metals after seeing a program on ITV morning programme. I collected all the broken jewellery my wife had which included odd earrings, chains bracelets, checked their website for the current price paid for the weight I had to sell, posted them by Special Delivery and received an email the following morning to say my money had been deposited into my bank account. From posting to receiving the money was just under 24 hours. No hassle would highly recommend this company.:j0

I think I would be worried about trying to sell fraudulent gold chains - it is almost equivalent to passing a forged £50 note.0 -

Sorry you have lost me on this...
Who said anything about the hallmarks being wrong, clearly the items where in fact 9ct gold but they where trying to chip me down in price by saying that they were less than 9carat gold .
I have since sold the items in question to a local jeweller. He gave me a great price after i told him about hatton gardne metals and what happened:rotfl:0 -
First time user of any jewellery selling company and the service was excellent from start to finish - easy to use too! I just weighed my gold and silver items on the kitchen scales, got an estimate and printed off the slip to put in the parcel.
A couple of days later I received an email from them to say I had £303 cheque on its way - WOW. And that was all for bits and bobs in my jewellery box that had been forgotten about over the years.
Very very impressed and would not hesitate in recommending them - 5* service.Testing out the theory of 'what doesn't kill us makes us stronger'.......Total debt £7,054 (personal loan £4500, MBNA £2100 Barclays £300 Store card £145 - est debt free by Feb 2015.0 -
I have used Hatton Garden Metals before (I read all the reviews on MoneySavingExpert) and found their service excellent. I posted some gold off to them yesterday by Special Delivery which they received this morning. I received an e-mail confirming the weight (exactly the same as the weight I got on my kitchen scales) price given for the gold etc. and confirming that the money had been paid into my bank account. I checked my bank account about ten minutes later and the money was there. What a service, would recommend this company to everyone. Reference the person who complained about marks on returned jewellery. Hatton Garden Metals state quite clearly that the gold will be tested by both destructive and non-destructive means. I don't believe that this person got a better price from a high street jeweller either.0
