I am so pleased I saw HGM mentioned in MSE. I posted my gold on the 6th and received my payment today. I had to have my gold carat verified as it was from abroad and received an email to inform me that it was different to what i had stated and asked if i wanted to proceed. once i clicked confirm I received money into my account within a few hours. the money I received is a lot more than i had been offered in the jewellers, wish i'd heard of HGM before.
p.s I didn't have precision scales so i asked the post office to weigh my jewellery for me before i filled in the submission form.:j

After reading the Moneysaving Tips email last week I dug out some old chintzy 9ct gold, weighed it on the office mail scales, got a quote from the HGM website and sent it off, I received the full £313 in my bank account the very next day!. Super happy!

I have sent some off todays special delivery so will wait and see ... I will update to let you all know what I get lol

I used the advice here and sent off my gold using the Post Office Special Delivery service which insures up to £500. I only sent late Thursday afternoon.

Friday morning I received an email saying that the gold had been verified and how much was being paid into my account (I requested a BACS payment). Sure enough the money is in my account and it is only half past two - where else would you get that level of service. I had been quoted as low as £40 and the highest was £200.

Hatton have paid me £442.

Don't go anywhere else with your gold. This is THE service you are looking for.

As promised an update:

I posted my gold yesterday (34 grams) sent using special delivery

Today I got £346 into my bank account

Very happy with the service

P.S when they email to confirm payment they ask you to leave feedback in this thread

I wanted to sell some gold coins and jewellery.
I was rather worried and sceptical about sending gold through the post, after a few days of trawling through the internet and phoning a few gold buyers, i wasnt exactly very reassured i was getting a good deal.
I then came across hgm website looked good and clear. There online gold calculator was easy enough to work.
On the first occasion i calculated online what i was going to get and send a single gold coin to see the results!!!!! Sent the envelope on friday afternoon, monday morning got verification and value. Monday afternoon money in the bank.!!!!
I have used them over 5 times in the last few months.
And they have never let me down.:t

Fantastic service, I sent my "bits" of gold off Saturday and the money was in the bank today..great to do business with! Now off to find some more that may be lurking in corners :rotfl:

Following all the positive comments about Hatton Garden Metals, I went through my jewellery box and picked out some things I don't like and never wear, and weighed them on my electronic kitchen scales. I was amazed to find out that they would make £767 - that was for an ugly but heavy gold chain, a thinner one, a pair of hoop earrings, the links from a broken necklace and a silver necklace from india with a dodgy-looking hallmark. I filled in their online form, got email confirmation back by reply, printed off the form and stuck it in a jiffy bag together with the gold and silver and went to spend 20 minutes queuing in the post office. I posted it Special Delivery at 4.30pm yesterday (it was £6.35 to insure it up to £1000) and by 11.30am today I got a friendly email saying they had paid the money into my account. I checked online and there it was. I can't believe how easy it was and think that any company being run so efficiently deserves a lot of praise, which is why I finally registered here to say so, having just lurked and taken advantage of everyone else's good advice up till now! Obviously it's crucial that you post your stuff by Special Delivery, and if the worst comes to the worst and it got lost on it's way to HGM, you would get the money anyway by claiming on the Post Office insurance. Big thank you to mse and all the posters for giving me the confidence to use this service.

These guys deserve the reputation they have here.

I took my 18ct wedding ring (which I'd had cut off) to my local jeweller who weighed it as 3.8g and quoted for it. I went home, checked the (much better) rate on HGM's online calculator and filled in the online form to send it off. I received an email almost instantly confirming the transaction, which I printed and sent with the ring in a padded envelope via Special Delivery. All this was perhaps an hour of my time (including the walk to and from the jewellers and the huge queue in the Post Office!). The money was in my account by lunchtime the next day, no quibble over the gold's weight, and for a better rate than originally quoted, which actually covered the cost of postage - and I'm easily £15 better off than selling via my local jeweller.

Smooth, easy transaction with great communications. And my redundant wedding ring has funded modest Christmas pressies for my children
