Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
I am about to parcel up some bits and pieces and send it off to them. I've had it all confirmed as gold at a local deal but he was offering a much lower rate. I just wondered what everyone does with the stones in rings and earrings? Do you take them out and if not, do they form part of the weight they pay. These are all very small cubics and saphhires btw, not lovely big diamonds :D

Noting some other posters scepticism I have registered in this forum to find out if HGM does what it says on the tin. I had a bag of scrap gold valued at £210 in a local jewellers today; mixed 9ct and 8ct (probably bought in Germany). It weighs 44gm in total and HGM online estimates £430.63 (if it was all 9ct). I will post the result when I have a reply from HGM.

They do not pay for stones and cannot return them as they are either crushed or melted when they extract the gold. Best to remove them yourself if you want them.

What a lovely surprise, I posted some bits this Tues, and money was in my bank the following afternoon, so the day they recieve the gold, test it, then pay!
You have to send it off without the prepaid envolopes some places offer, but this was one of the reasons for choosing this company after deliberating over many sites, which to choose? as that way, it is at your leisure, you have all proof of postage, and you can check on their site before you do send your bits to see if the value has gone up or down since you made your enquiry, you get the value rate what ever that is on the day they recieve your gold.
Breath of fresh air, I'd recommend this company to EVERYONE!
Thank you HGM for restoring my faith in humanity!! lol
  • I got exactly what it said, a quick deal, no problems at all,
sent the gold Thursday morning, got paid Friday afternoon,
and they paid exactly what they quoted me, am more than
satisfied and pleased with the level of service from this company.
  • Fab, Fab, Fab, Fab. Sent off some scrap gold, a ring and bracelet on wednesday, money in my account by Thursday. Did exactly as they said they would, and paid out what they quoted. Would definitely use again.
  • I had some scrap gold that I needed to sell. Having read all about HGM I decided to bite the bullit and post it off. Hatton Garden Metals are without any doubt the best and most efficient company I have ever dealt with on line. Like most other posters say, they paid me exactly the amount quoted (over £800).The money was in my account the next day. If you want to sell gold do it with HGM you will not be disappointed. I was a bit worried at first when my special delivery parcel was signed for by a 'Mr A Hole' but I need not have worried. Will be using them again next week with the rest of my old gold.
  • I have used HGM about 3-4 times now over the last few weeks.I did some research first went to some local gold companies and internet ones.I sold a few gold bracelets 2 old and 2 new, 9 ct gold. The service is first class, you just put your request in to their site which gives you a reference number print off the email they send you and send it off recorded delivery with insurance( cost about £5 up to £500 insured ) the money is in your bank acc almost immediately!!
They are linked to gold prices so you can see exactly what you are getting looking at the trade prices for gold in the City( on their website).

    Cannot recommend enough.
  • I sent off to HGM some items that I thought were probably costume jewellery as they weighed hardly anything.
All I had input into their website was 1gram of 9ct gold.
I was amazed when I received their email 2 days later to let me know that they had valued it at £102
They definitely get the thumbs up from me.

used hgm last month. knew exactly how much I would get as they tell you on the web how much they pay per gram. It was double what 2 local jewelers were paying. Enter how much in weight you are sending and then send special delivery I think (insured up to £500 I think, check with PO). Money in bank next day. No arguments over weight, agreed with me and the gold price actually went up on the day we traded so I got even more than I was expecting. Very happy:j
Hi my name is Alfredo I sent my srap gold to Hatton Garden Metal on the 12th of november.
They are great. Sent them your scrap gold to them with confidance.
I sent on the 12th of novemer 85.90 grams of 18karat gold and they paid me £19.92 per gram so the day after on my bank account I got £1711.34.
They do not charge any FEE.
If you choose paypal payment ....in that case paypal charge you a fee.
DO NOT SELL your scrap gold to any other place ...they pay you less.
    Regards
    Alfredo
