I too am a newbie and haven't sent any gold anywhere - but I see from the Hatton Garden Metals website they advise people to read this forum thread to see customer comments

I think the concern is though - why are all these people going to the trouble of creating an account on here purely to leave a couple of lines of positive feedback and then logging off in the same minute or within a couple of minutes of posting and never returning again?

If it was a case of anyone could post without being a member, that's fine, but you have to create a user name and password, click on the email link sent and sign in before you can post. Seems a lot of effort to go to really to post once then log off straight away :undecided

I'm OBVIOUSLY not addressing that question to YOU though as you are one of these people who have done exactly as I described and logged off and never returned since the minute you posted :rotfl:

HGM are good from my experience (as I've already posted), but it would be a shame for this sort of thing to make it look like they are just creating members on here themselves just to bump the thread and provide free advertising.

Not saying there is anything suspicious going on and not making any accusations :A Just saying how it may look to others :)

  • I used them twice & my friend has used them too, I have found them really good, easy to send & easy to get the money right into your bank, Not feeling ripped off whatsoever, very good price was paid each time for my gold, would highly reccommed them.....

Well I am well impressed. After reading this thread, sent of 25g of gold, odd earrings and a broken chain. Posted special delivery last night money was in my account today. They weight was 1/2 gram less than mine but i was using kitchen scales, one very happy bunny here. Can highly recommend.
  • A few weeks ago a local jeweller offered £150 for a 36 gram 9ct gold chain. I sent the chain to HGM yesterday and today I received £359.99 in my bank account via bacs.

The service is totally transparent. The London gold fix is published on the HGM website together with the price they will pay. For example, today the gold fix was £875.79 per troy ounce which equates to £10.56 per gram for 9ct gold. The HGM price was £10.08. The admin fee was therefore 4.5% for an exceptional service.
  • Have used this service today and am blown away so far..I had a bag of old bits and pieces, mainly broken chains. Sent it off yesterday and they have valued it at £860!:jWow, this was just lying aroung taking up space. The only cost to me was £5.50 for special delivery. I acted as the News reported that the price of Gold was skyhigh. Well this means that Christmas will be a little merrier than expected, although I am still applying caution as who knows what 2011 will bring...
I urge you to root around and have a clear out of those broken chains and stuff lying around. The price is around £10 per gram for 9ct, so even a small amount will give a great return:T
  • If not already blown away, received payment within 2 hours.:money:
  • Used Hatton Gardens this week and was very pleased.
    • When did you use it Tuesday 9th Nov 2010
    • What did you send it Assorted earings, chains, bracelets in both gold and silver
    • How much did it promise you £322.39
    • How much did it deliver £336.81
    • How efficient was the service Super fast. Payment in bank Wednesday 10th Nov.
    • Anything else other people should know. Received an email confirming the package had been received and payment sent to the bank. Appears on my statement the same day.
Very pleased and will be using them again with some old gold wrist watches, minus the watch mechanism.

I used Hatton Gold last month and was really impressed. Sent the items off via Special Delivery and very promptly received the cheque. Would use again and have recommended to friends.
  • Couldn't praise them highly enough. Gold sent late Wed, recieved Thursday and informed around 3pm that the full price was to be paid and cheque sent, cheque recieved on Friday.
    Very happy!

Sent very small packet with tarnished broken silver jewellery and just one small broken gold chain. Received approx £30 today.

Don't forget that silver can be recycled on any of the cash for gold sites. Broken brooches, pendants etc are well worth sennding in.
