  • seems fair. It's a shame that we don't have more companies to compare prices from. HGM are evidently sponsoring and advertising on MSE, could have something to do with why so many people are choosing them and not discussing alternatives

Obviously I`ve not read every single post but the gist of it from the regular posters is it`s safe to use HGM.

    Is this fair comment?
I think that's about right. HGM have actually tarnished rather than improved their reputation by the spamming, whereas if they'd just let this thread develop normally they'd have a really good, and trustworthy, reputation and none of these posts doubting them would even be here. Totally shot/shooting themselves in the foot.

Hi, my mum has around 150g of 9ct/14ct and 18ct gold all old jewellery she doesn't wear any more, and has asked me to sell it for her.

Does anyone know a reputable place in London?? Planning on going Friday.

Should add, if I could, I would prefer to see the whites of the dealers eyes, I am not sure about sending gold through the post.
  • I was not that worried about HGM; but I am a little surprised that there have been no reports on here of an inside job at the Post Office.
I wonder if this excellent record will be maintained after privatisation ?.

Poor me for not being an MSE enthusiast earlier. I sent 10 grams of 9 carat off to the British Gold Refinery a couple of months ago. A rather small amount so poor customer service is somewhat to be expected. But by now it's an absurdly long time and judging by the comments it's probably not coming back. Frustrating that businesses like this are even allowed to keep their doors open
  • Need some advice :/ I sent off some gold a number of weeks ago to London Gold Refinery and haven’t heard anything at all. I’ve emailed them a bunch and the phone keeps ringing through to answering machine.

I got some gold from my mother in law who wanted me to sell it as she’s come on hard times a bit. So I sent it off but it seems like London gold refinery scammed me as they’re simply unavailable.

I in a bind because my mother in law keeps asking me whats happening with the gold, but I don’t want to tell her I’ve sent it off and there’s nothing to show for it. It would be a blow she couldn’t handle, and it would make things tough between her and I. She’s really relying on the money from her gold, and m wife says that parting with the pieces was very very hard for her.

Don’t know what to do. Need help. Should I expect the gold back in the long term or have the Lodon Gold Refinery got it for good and I need to contact authorities? Thanks in advance for your help.

It would appear that they are still paying Foogle to appear at the top of the listing; so legal action might work.
Want to risk a bit more money by applying for a small (?) claim judgement over the automatic system ? Do you actually know with which company you have a contact?
    Can you prove delivery ?
What record have you of what you sent? Nice photos perhaps?

You will note the first unpaid for entry in the listing!

well I'm to report I sent gold off and another tiny platinum ring, they said plat ring weren't in with package, it was, but I'm not bothered, weren't worth much. they paid 10.15 per g got over £400 so am happy with that, was mostly broken bits or rings I don't/won't wear.

Yes I sent to Hatton garden metals and used the code for mse too..
hey they never asked me to write anything on here as of yet.
Just reporting back as I'm not a newbie and has asked JDpower for advice.. thanks:D

This is the Hatton Garden Metals feedback thread, isn't it?

Why then the recent posts about British Gold Refinery, and London Gold Refinery? Are these companies somehow related to HGM? This is confusing.

I've used Hatton Garden Metals a few times with no problems, and generally received slightly more £££ than I estimated I was due.
