Played with the unit today. Have had the 510 and 520, and this is by far better. Great volume on the voice, excellent signal reciept - got it within 2 minutes of turning on first timr! Took 10 last time! Its so much better - and thats indoors!

No SD card this time but does come with remote so hey ho...

    Excellent! :)

Wow - are you collecting them? - and I'm trying to justify buying one. A friend of mine has the 510 and thinks it's great - this must be better then. Is that correct that it doesn't have an SD card for UK maps - I suppose this means that these work faster - I guess you could load any other maps in the unit to work faster?

Just out of interest, what car are you using it in - I've got a Alhambra with a heated screen - my garmin works fine in it - just wondered about the 530.

To anyone who does buy this I would reccomend downloading the latest software update which as stated earlier in the thread sorts out quite a few bugs in the software

BTW, there is already a free software update/patch available on the website. It fixes quite a lot apparently.

Nah - its just the 510 was no good at getting reception so thought Id take it back and then the 520 offer came up and that one was only really cosmetically upgraded. Sold it on ebay for 170ish. Now this one and it is so much better :)

I use it in a pug 206 with heated screen no worries! The 510/520 werent that good in it.
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:

It is also worth noting that it comes with a remote control. So if you dont need the remote or the Europe maps then e-bay them. Get £20 for the remote and £20 to £30 for the maps :)

The UK and Ireland maps are loaded into the flash memory of the unit. You can load other maps instead but bear in mind that you only have 256MB of total internal memory so this will limit what you can load.

There is a really good deal on a 1GB high speed SD card here:

Navman technical told me that a 1GB card will work fine as long as it is high-speed which this is. Apparently, there are shops in France that are bundling a 1GB high-speed card with the 530 unit without probs.

I already have a 1GB high-speed MMC which I hope will work ok.

    Cheers

  • Hi

I also ordered mine on Monday morning but with 'priority delivery'

I was just contacted by DHL to say that delivery would be tomorrow (Thurs). Priority!!!

Anyway, I contacted Navman CS and told them that I was not happy paying extra for a 'priority service', and without having to 'pleed my case' they agreed to refund the postage which in total comes to £6.77.

Fantastic backup from Navman and total price now comes out at £183.06.

Just hope I don't need to send it back!

    Cheers

    Chris
